As a child who doesn't have the privilege of knowing neither my maternal nor Paternal grandfathers, this deprived me lots of traveling experiences while growing up. My both grandfathers died before I could clock 5 years, so my grandmothers were moved from the village to the city where I lived.
I wasn't privileged at all to experience going on trips to celebrate the festive season in my village with my grandparents while I was a child.
Everything I do and was privileged to travel to was within the state capital of my state and I would either be accompanied by my Mom or my Dad. But I had wished to travel because I usually feel jealous when my friends are talking about seeing new places while they travel down to see their grandparents, uncles or aunties.
Although my parents aren't the traveling type, hardly will you see an event outside my state that will make my parents travel together, it will either be a traveling which will engage my Dad this week while next week will be my Mom's turn to travel and while they travel they do it alone.
But as God will have it, when I finished primary school I was enrolled in a secondary school far away from home so this gave me the liberty I've been carving for since childhood. Luckily my school was a government owned school, so no school bus at all. All students whom their parents don't have a car must take public transport to school, so this gave me the privilege of boarding taxis or buses to school all alone.
So at age eleven I had the opportunity of sitting inside a taxi all alone without the aid of any of my parents. I boarded public transport by myself to school and I loved the experience, my favorite sitting side is the window side.
I'm an observant person, so I love observing my environment to the extent that I will be the one telling my parents when I got back home from school that I noticed a particular structure had been erected in a particular place and my parents will be so amazed that how on earth did I noticed it.
So since childhood up till now, I've only traveled by road through cars and buses, I haven't been privilege to train by air, water or through train.
But just like my love for sitting by the window side since secondary school days, I also love it till this moment. I love viewing nature, reading sign posts to know where the vehicle is passing and I also love seeing wonderful edifices put up by man to beautify the environment.
The longest journey I've made for now was about 6 years ago during my National Service (NYSC), in which I traveled all the way from Kwara state to Delta State by bus and it took me close to 9 hours to get to my destination.
Although, it was a long journey, but I love the experience because I was privileged to pass through different states in Nigeria and I saw new things on the way.
However, I will love to experience traveling by air so as to know the feeling of been in an airplane and also travel through trains too.
Here is my entry to #Mayinleo daily prompt.
