The magic of an avenue: history, architecture, nature and art in pictures [eng/spa]

One of the most important and crowded avenues in the city of Havana is the Avenida de los Presidentes, also known as G. This is one of the best places to enjoy an interesting sightseeing tour, and many visitors who arrive in the city do not miss the opportunity to walk its streets.
After this necessary introduction I tell you that today, after finishing my photography classes, I had to walk along this avenue to solve some personal matters, and I stopped to observe one of the sections that I like the most, which extends from 29th Street to University Avenue.

Una de las avenidas más importantes y concurridas de la ciudad de La Habana es la Avenida de los Presidentes, conocida también como G. Este es uno de los mejores lugares para disfrutar de un interesante recorrido turístico, y muchos de los visitantes que arriban a la ciudad no pierdan la oportunidad de recorrer sus calles.
Luego de esta introducción necesaria les cuento que hoy, al terminar mis clases de fotografía, tuve que recorrer esta avenida para resolver algunas gestiones personales, y me detuve a observar uno de los tramos que más me gusta, el cual se extiende desde la calle 29 hasta la avenida Universidad.

In this area, one of the identifying elements that constitutes one of its most iconic points is the monument dedicated to José Miguel Gómez, who was one of the first Cuban presidents. This work was designed by an Italian architect, and it highlights the statue of more than 3 meters high of this general. For lovers of the history of the people, this is one of the best places to visit.
On one of its sides is the renowned Fructuoso Rodriguez Orthopedic Hospital, a facility that provides various medical services. This hospital has a very unique architectural design, and its facade has a considerable degree of preservation despite the years.

En esta área, uno de los elementos identitarios y que constituye uno de sus puntos más icónicos, es el monumento dedicado a José Miguel Gómez, quien fuera uno de los primeros presidentes cubanos. Esta obra fue diseñada por un arquitecto italiano, y en ella resalta la estatua de más de 3 metros de altura de este general. Para los amantes de la historia de los pueblos, este es uno de los mejores sitios para conocer.
En uno de sus laterales se encuentra el reconocido hospital ortopédico Fructuoso Rodríguez, instalación que brinda diversos servicios médicos. Este centro hospitalario tiene un diseño arquitectónico muy singular, y su fachada tiene un grado considerable de conservación a pesar de los años.7

Usually, visitors who walk along Avenida de los Presidentes end their walk at the monument to Gómez, but I recommend continuing on the path.
In that area, there is very lush and green vegetation, and a unique breeze blows. I suggest not to miss the opportunity to take some pictures, because I don't remember another part of the city that has the same views.
There is also another monument there, although much smaller, dedicated to Major General Bartolomé Masó. This one is located on the road separator, and the bust of the figure is made of bronze.

De forma habitual, los visitantes que recorren la Avenida de los Presidentes terminan su paseo en el monumento a Gómez, pero yo recomiendo seguir el camino.
En esa zona, hay una vegetación muy frondosa y verde, y sopla una brisa única. Sugiero no perder la oportunidad de tomar algunas fotos, porque no recuerdo otra parte de la ciudad que tenga las mismas vistas.
También hay allí otro monumento, aunque mucho más pequeño, dedicado al Mayor General Bartolomé Masó. Este está ubicado en el separador de la vía, y el busto de la figura está elaborado en bronce.

For the end I leave something that is what attracts my attention the most, and I am sure you will be surprised as well. It is the stone drawings carved in the large rock formations that adorn this avenue. From my point of view, they simulate the figure of a man and a woman from another era who wish to hold hands.

Para el final dejo algo que es lo que más llama mi atención, y estoy segura que ustedes resultaran sorprendidos también. Se trata de los dibujos en piedra tallados en las grandes formaciones rocosas que adornan esta avenida. Desde mi punto de vista, simulan la figura de un hombre y una mujer de otra época que desean tomarse de las manos.
