Gorría Workshop Gallery and a little bit of Red [eng/spa]

It is not every day that you have the opportunity to enjoy an experience as impressive as Red was, but without getting carried away, I'd better start at the beginning. Today I come to talk to you about the Gorría gallery-workshop, which is located on the well-known San Isidro Street, between Picota and Compostela.
The location of this place is very privileged, because San Isidro is one of the most popular streets in Old Havana, since that is where Alberto Yarini died, who was one of the most famous people in the city in his time. In fact, the workshop gallery is located right on the first floor of the Yarini Habana restaurant.
I recommend, without a doubt, that whenever you visit Havana, you should always check what Gorría has on display, because they are very selective with the projects they present and the quality of the artists, which allows you to experience unique moments. In addition, its design is very well thought out, which allows you to feel very comfortable in that place. The group show Perpetual, with works by some 60 Cuban artists, will be on display soon; but I will tell you about last month's exhibition, which, as I said at the beginning of the post, is entitled Red.

No todos los días se tiene la oportunidad de disfrutar de una experiencia tan impresionante como lo fue Rojo, pero sin dejarme llevar por la emoción, mejor empiezo por el principio. Hoy vengo a hablarles de la galería taller Gorría, que se encuentra ubicada en la conocida calle San Isidro, entre Picota y Compostela.
La ubicación de este sitio es muy privilegiada, porque San Isidro es de las calles más populares de la Habana Vieja, ya que en ese sitio murió Alberto Yarini, quien fuera uno de los personajes más conocidos en la ciudad en su época. De hecho, la galería taller se encuentra justo en la planta baja del restaurante Yarini Habana.
Recomiendo sin dudas, que siempre que visiten La Habana, revisen qué tiene en exposición Gorría, porque son muy selectivos con los proyectos que presentan y la calidad de los artistas, lo que permite vivir momentos únicos. Además, su diseño está muy bien pensado, lo que permite sentirse muy a gusto en ese lugar. Próximamente se expondrá la muestra colectiva Perpetual, con obras de unos 60 artistas cubanos; pero yo les contaré sobre la exposición del pasado mes, que como decía al inicio del post, se titula Rojo.

Red is a project created by Cuban visual artist May Reguera, which pays a well-deserved tribute to Cuban theater. One of the elements I liked most about the exhibition is that in addition to being able to enjoy an incredible photographic series, a whole performance was created around the theme addressed. The artist and creator of all the magic, right in the middle of the gallery, wore a huge and incredible dress, and unraveled a red yarn that seemed to have been tangled for centuries. We were all amazed to see how many hours she was able to spend engrossed in her thoughts and her work, and some even ended up sitting on the floor, collaborating with the artist's task.

Rojo es un proyecto creado por la artista visual cubana May Reguera, y que rinde merecido tributo al teatro cubano. Uno de los elementos que más me gustó de la exposición es que además de poder disfrutar de una increíble serie fotográfica, se creó todo un performance en torno a la temática abordada. La artista y creadora de toda la magia, justo en medio de la galería, lucía un enorme e increíble vestido, y destejía una estambre de color rojo que parecía haber estado enredado durante siglos. Todos quedamos sorprendidos al ver cuántas horas pudo pasar ensimismada en sus pensamientos y en su labor, e incluso algunos terminaban sentados en el suelo, colaborando con la tarea de la artista.

As an interesting fact, the red dresses used by the models in their photo shoots were hanging from the ceiling of the workshop gallery. It was very nice to see many of the girls trying to take a picture of their dress.

Como dato interesante les cuento que, en el techo de la galería taller, colgaban los vestidos rojos usados por las modelos en sus sesiones fotográficas. Era muy simpático ver a muchas de las chicas intentando tomar una foto de su vestido.

It caught my attention that in the exhibition there were also photos where blue was predominant, but then I was told that these belonged to previous series, which in some way constituted the starting point for this one.

Llamó mi atención que en la exposición también habían fotos donde predominaba el azul, pero luego me comentaron que estas pertenecían a anteriores series, que de alguna forma constituyeron el punto de partida para esta.

In the gallery there is also an area for the preparation of gastronomic products, and I comment that the cocktail bar was luxurious.

En la galería existe también un área destinada a la preparación de los productos gastronómicos, y les comento que la coctelería estaba de lujo.
