Smokin' ladies. Rangamati. Chittagong Hill Tracts Bangladesh

in Worldmappin6 days ago

A visit to a commercial area of Rangamati, what turned out to be a long narrow street full of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Buying and selling and smokin' ladies.

King goose, tied up to the roof of the cage, not allowed in with the gals in case he gets too frisky.

Smokin'

I have never seen this before, I was assured that it is just raw tobacco leaves that are being smoked, probably true as there was no sweet aroma of the weed wafting across my nose.

_DSC7592.jpeg

Apparently it is favoured by smokin' ladies as it cools the heat of the burn

and when you are sucking on a bong it has to be a pleasant sensation, yes?

Great portraits! Indian subcontinent meets Southeast Asia! I didn't know this part of Bangladesh has such a mixed population. I only knew that the northeast states of India are inhabited by Asian-looking people (like Nagaland).

Thanks @x-rain , appreciate your positive vibes. Yes closer the borders facial features seem to blend and change

Enjoy captures of people, shows lifestyle far more than the stores in these conditions.

got to agree there @joanstewart

Cities really aren't up my alley, portraits of people simply show more of regional struggles to get through life.

I get that too

The smoking ladies reminds me of Viet Nam. Many people smoke a strong local tobacco from a similar looking bamboo bong.

LOl I guess they dooo. Guess if it is that strong then a bong is required

Dam... I was mesmerised when I saw the last picture of the boss lady...She definitely is in control of her family 🤣... Those fresh veggies, fruits, and fish made me cry because I am so tired of eating frozen, greenhouse veggies...😂... I tried raw tabaq once and I felt like I was dying...😂

Boss lady has that look about her doesn't she! One of the benefits of countryside living straight from then farm to the kitchen.

Think I will pss on the tobacco LOL

I have never seen such colourful beans!

LOL cheers @handofjustin me neither
