Lisbon facts:
- Capital of Portugal with a population of just under 3 million (quite small in comparison to other cities)
- Second oldest city in Europe, Athens being the oldest
- Most westerly mainland european capital, one of the globalist agenda driving quangos, Globalisation and World Cities Research Network, recognises Lisbon as an alpha level global city. Fuck globalisation. Fuck the agenda.
Lets look at things, tramping the streets of the older parts of Lisbon.
The 19th C iron fountains in the downtown area of Pombaline, constructed in 1889, there are two of them which replaced former open wells.
Espingardia, been here over a hundred years selling guns n bullets and stuff
and a shop with a big choice, but no guns.
Lovely narrow streets, Lisbon the city built on seven hills, and thats a fact.
Photobombed
Hand(y)rails, needed to navigate up and down between the streets.
It is only when you reach the top and discover how high and how far you have actually walked
Everything looking so clean from here, the lovely terracotta roofs, look like they could have been placed yesterday
Walking back down is just as onerous as the knees, but can't stay here all day.
Party Time in Alfama District, the oldest and apparently most vibrant of the old districts.
There is no litter around , no big pools of vomit splattered on the walls or the cobbles, maybe this is pre party time. Or is that just a british thing? Chavs who think they can only have a good time if they get completely wasted on booze.
Argentina Santos who died in 2019 was a renowned Portuguese Fago singer
Fado is music characterised by dreary mournful tunes and lyrics, usually about the sea or the life of the poor, mixed with a sense of resignation, fate and melancholy.
Happy fucking days.
Let's get this party started.
There are 5 different tram routes across Lisbon and 3 funiculars
For some reason Tramline 28 is "mythical" and the most sought after ride in the city, it travels through the steep narrow alleyways across the older districts.
It is so much more fun walking as each tramcar seemed to be full of tacky tourists, on their way to the souvenir shops to buy plastic replicas of the tram they have just been packed into like sardines in tomato sauce. The Glória Funicular will be featured again in the #streetart community
Along the Alfama shoreline, a lovely creative spot
Something prosaic on the mosaic, cant speak Portugeese and goog trans comes up with gibberish.
