Boats and booze, Evening comes to Flores. Guatemala

in Worldmappin10 months ago

Take a boat trip on the lake it was suggested, a short ride to a quiet beach for swimming and nature and stuff. Well hell why not, let's jump onboard, half an hour later, jump off, amuse ourselves and in an hour the boat would return ( full with the next bunch of gullible tourists) and take us back to Flores.

Some swam, some chattered incessantly about nothing in particular. Me? I wandered off took some snaps, got bored then just waited for said boat to come back and rescue me.

No point in a beach bar without a bar.

These fluffy big bags of nothingness who can't fall in love with clouds, there is nothing else like them on earth where they can look so different from one moment to the next.

Welcome to the Sky bar

It took some time for me to actually find the entrance, as although it is situated on the lake front, the entrance is tucked away down a small alley. Persevere I did as it is said to have the best views for the sunset. Maybe, maybe not , but they had a BOGOF happy hour so who is complaining

Thirst quenchers, and what was really cool was a BOGOF cocktail, brought one at a time so they stay chilled. Class!

Guatemala does look like having a bit of everything, isn't it? Hard to pick a favourite activity since you can do so many things in a single day :)

cheers @gabrielatravels , yes a wonderful part of the world to visit, so warm and friendly to visitors as well

Guatemala and Costa Rica are 2 very nice and small Central America nations with a lot to offer, you won't get bored , guaranteed!

I'm always enamored with the beauty of the sea and it's fascinating, as a gardener ,to see that type of water lily you have in one of your images. I pay for those each Spring at the local garden centre to have in my pond, Water hyacinths. What a gorgeous place.

cheers @donnadavisart thanks for dropping in, and you solved a mystery, thanks for identifying the lonely water hyacinth.
