Birds Nest Sanctuary- The Best Spots of Historical and Farming Sites

Manticao has its own unique and perfect tourists spots. Lots of Mountains, rivers, streams, plain places and commercial establishments. In terms of historical sites, Manticao also have a simple Museum and this is the Birds Nest Sanctuary located in Barangay Pagawan, Manticao Misamis Oriental Mindanao Philippines. This place contains lots of antique and very old things owned by Native people who lived first here at the Municipality. Birds nest sanctuary is not quitely far from Provincial road and it only takes a few minutes of traveling from Barangay Poblacion going to Barangay Pagawan. Birds nest sanctuary is not only a place were lots of wild trees and old things exhibit, it is also a kind of Farm planted with lots of vegetables and crops like sweet potatoes.

The structures here are very simple, fences are designed with old garden tools and it is planted with vine plants to make it more attractive.

Inside of the place lies this great and old house designed made of light materials just like lumbers. The designed of this house is just like a second world war house designed. The walls and doors are made with lumbers coated with natural varnish to make it glossy and shine. There is also a terrace and it is surrounded with different kinds of plants. Inside of this ancestral house are displayed old things from the past and a few stories written at the old book.

This place also holds different kinds of special occasions just like Birthdays, Meetings, Wedding receptions and many more. This very old hall was built for special occasions and bookings. Inside of this place are hundreds of chairs and wooden tables. Each corner of the structure also decorated with colorful curtains and a unique chandeliers hanging at the ceilings. It is surrounded with lots of wild plants and big trees that is why it will be more comfortable and relaxing here because of the shady place.

This newly built cafeteria structure is also very unique and attractive because of its designs particularly the walls made of bamboo pieces. It builts near at the hall surrounded with lots of trees and wild plants. For now, the structure is under finishing touch before it will completely finish and in can be used to displayed lots of drinks, foods and snacks.

Children loves to see a wishing wheel. This sanctuary also have a wishing wheel replica built at the middle of forestry place. It is made of solid concrete with small rooftop and a stainless steel bucket hanging at the top.

This Vinta Boat replica also gives a great views of the place, it is decorated with colorful curtains and lumbers. Vinta boat is just like this, and it can only found in Zamboanga City. Near in this great structure is the ornamental plants and some nice landscapes full of plants and stones. This replica of vinta boat is located near at the ancestral house and it is also facing to the big hall.

Bee hive structure is also at the place, this simple structure holds lots of boxes that contains lots of bees. The boxes are made of plywoods and it is built under this small kinds of bamboos called Bagakay. The bees that lives here are produced lots of honeys.

This replica houses are the first designed structures owned by Native people. Centuries ago when native people lived here in Manticao, they built exactly this kind of houses. It is made with bamboo pieces as walls, round lumber as the house foundations and cogon leaves served as a rooftop of the structure. This can help to all children to gain lots of ideas about the exact image of the historical houses.

Inside of those houses are displayed old things used by native people that time. Most of the old things displayed here are faming tools, hunting tools, old pots and jars, and an old game materials called Sungka. Baskets and some old paints shows the old civilizations also displayed here.

On the other side of the sanctuary is the wide garden. Sweet potatoes and bitter gourd vegetables are planted here and almost 50, farmers works in here during planting and harvest time. The crops that they harvested here will be sell to the market and the most interesting about farming here is they don't used any synthetic materials instead they used organic fertilizers to the plant. Birds nest sanctuary is a perfect place to visit especially those who loves to know historical activities and to see the old things from the past. I love how it combines history, nature, and farming all in one spot. The old artifacts and traditional houses must be fascinating to see, and the organic farm is such a great touch.

Yes Ma'am, it helps to all new Generation children like me to imagined how those native people live backed many centuries ago. ☺️

Farming also helps to all residents to have some source of income, they worked here planting lots of crops like sweet potatoes.
