Civic museum of Bassano del Grappa

in Worldmappin3 days ago

During our visit to Bassano del Grappa, we passed by the Civic Museum, located in the city center... Before having the baby, we often went to museums, but of course, we had stopped going because how could a small child be interested? However, we decided to give it a try to see how it would go.

Founded in 1855, the museum is located inside a historic building, Palazzo Bonaguro, and is divided into several rooms spread across two floors, with exhibits arranged chronologically.

At the start of the tour, there are these stunning statues, really very beautiful.

The first sections are the archaeological ones, which display Roman and prehistoric finds from the area.

As you move through the rooms, you reach the one dedicated to medieval and Renaissance art, which hosts valuable works, including paintings and sculptures.

At the end, there are spaces dedicated to contemporary history, with artifacts from the World Wars.

The upper floor offers different exhibitions from the lower one, which is more focused on history. Here, we have the artistic section, with rooms that display significant works of Venetian painting.

This floor also features works by Renaissance and Baroque artists. Among the noteworthy pieces, several paintings and frescoes stand out, depicting religious events.

Don’t ask me the names of the artists or for explanations because with the baby, it’s already a miracle we managed to look at it decently. It was impossible to stop and read or delve deeper. Anyway, overall, it’s a nice museum, interesting to visit.

I'm a bit late, but I'm here, finally. Well, the painting are amazing, they take you back to an era when painting maybe was living its best period (if I can say that). I've seen a lot of this era across famous museums in Europe and I love what you posted here, but what I love even more is the statues at the beginning of your post. Those are absolutely amazing. The ceramics are also very nice. I think I'd have spent a day in that museum 😆

I liked a lot all the paints, even if I don't like religious subjects but they were objectively great... I agree that statues are very nice, they were right at the entrance welcoming you, i couldn't not photo them!

So nice! Molto bello! I have been there... so many years ago... this is a lovely town really and with many things to see like that museum! Enjoy all that area that I love!

What a lovely museum visit @davideownzall even with a baby you still managed to capture so many beautiful details. The artworks and statues look amazing and Palazzo Bonaguro itself seems full of history..

It was very nice to be the museum of a small city!
