Sunday Activity; Picnic in the National Garden / Pazar Aktivitesi; Millet Bahçesinde Piknik 🍖 🌲

in Worldmappin3 days ago (edited)

Hello everyone, I hope you are well. A few days ago, I talked about the rain and cold weather that rained in Istanbul at regular intervals throughout the day. In the past days, we had planned for Sunday with my friends and we were thinking of cancelling it because of the weather, but we did not cancel it because the weather was very nice.

Herkese merhaba, umarım iyisinizdir. Birkaç gün önce İstanbul’a gün boyunca belirli aralıklarla yağan yağmurdan ve soğuk havadan bahsetmiştim.

Around 11.00 we had a nice breakfast and went to the place where my friend's house was and did some shopping. We went to the place where we were going to have a picnic without wasting too much time to find a place. I went to Ümraniye nation garden last year and liked it very much. It was also a great advantage for us that it was close.

Contrary to what we expected, a large part of the national garden was empty. We found an empty, suitable bench and put our belongings on it. Then we walked on the walking path inside the national garden.
Just beyond the entrance there was a small pond of water flowing from above. On the internet, this place looks like a waterfall, but none of the waterfalls I have seen before were like this. 😅
As I recall, it was empty last year.

Hatırladığım kadarıyla geçen sene burası boştu.

The roses next to the pond and the animal figures made of small pieces of wood attracted my attention more.
In the first photo, there is a goat and its baby and in the other photo there is a double-headed eagle. It really takes a great labour to make these. They are not made on a machine or in a factory, they are completely hand labour. They combined small pieces of wood and gave them the shape they wanted and then combined them with nails.

There are also playgrounds in the garden where children can have a pleasant time. It must not have attracted the attention of the children at all because there was not a single child.
There was an animal farm established in a small area a little further away from the park. However, I could not see any living creature other than a rabbit and a peacock. The rabbit was a little bit inside the shelter. We called out to it a few times but it did not react. It was probably afraid of people or sick.
There were two peacocks. The white one was outside and the other one was inside the shelter. We expected them to make a small show with their wings, but they did not care about us. 😅
As far as I remember, this place didn't exist when I came last year. It's probably just been set up.

Hatırladığım kadarıyla geçen sene geldiğimde burası da yoktu. Muhtemelen yeni kuruldu.

We continued on the walking path in the forest, watching the surroundings and chatting. The crowd of people was slowly increasing. If we had come 1-2 hours later, we probably would not have found a place.
After going to where we were positioned, we chatted a little more and consumed seeds.
Around 15.30, we went to the barbecue to cook the meat.
In the meantime, our spouses took care of other chores.

One of the reasons why we prefer this place is that there is a ready-made barbecue. You don't bother with lighting a fire, coal, etc. You only pay a small amount for the barbecue. We paid 50 Turkish Liras for 1.5 kg of meat, which is quite affordable.
It also prevents forest fires or other dangers. It is really a great application.
After waiting in line for about five minutes, it was our turn and the attendant cleaned the place where we would cook the meat. The cooking process was over in about half an hour and then we prepared the table.

After dinner, we bought tea from the market and drank it. In fact, it would be much better to prepare tea in a samovar in such places, but we could not think about it because we left in a hurry. Although it was our first picnic experience with friends, it was very enjoyable. We had a nice and fun time. You can even come here just for a walk. Moreover, the entrance is free of charge.
We left around 17.00 after collecting our belongings and rubbish. I recommend you to stop by if you are on your way.
See you soon.

Note; I made the photo collage with Canva application.

The food here looks yummy, the pepper itself is big. Im glad you had a safe visit.

Yes, it was delicious. I wish I had bought the peppers a little smaller, unfortunately it was a little difficult to cook.

A serene and well-spent Sunday! I love how you captured both the charm and the little quirks of the place. The handmade wooden animals are amazing. A special kind of artistry, where you can see the human touch in every piece. Beautiful place!

It's very good for relaxing on Sundays. The works of art made of wood are really fascinating. If I tried to do it myself, I probably wouldn't succeed or it would take me a few years. 😅

You will probably spend way too long just figuring out how to glue the pieces without them falling apart! 😄

What a lovely place to spend the day! Am I understanding correctly that this is in Istanbul? What a huge contrast with the city. So quiet and peaceful! And I see the bicycle path...I'm Dutch, so I'm always happy to see them elsewhere. Are they common in the city now? I love Istanbul, and I love Turkey, so next time I'm there, I think I found a nice place to visit. Thank you for sharing!

Yes, Istanbul. 😅 Finding such a quiet and beautiful place in a crowded city can sometimes be our luxury.
If you visit Istanbul, I definitely recommend you to stop by. I am sure you will like it. Greetings to the Netherlands. 🙂

I live in Mexico now, but when we travel to Europe again, Turkey is on my list. If only for the food haha. And now I have a new place to visit in Istanbul. That's what I love about Hive. New people, new ideas, new places. Have a great day and sunny greetings from Mexico!

Like most of us often do, is to spend our time relaxing on weekends especially on Sundays. It's really relaxing to walk around and take photos of such great views like the pond, flowers and the animal figures that is so overwhelming to see. I love how creativity really shows in those animal figures. What a beautiful place to visit, my mom and I would really love this. Thank you for sharing 🤍

Waooo! Excellent adventure, photos and experiences. Very nice tour to the garden and picnic in nature 🏕 , thanks for sharing with the community the adventure.
This images of the wood carving, super creative and beautiful 🤩 .

You know I had never seen a white peacock, very exotic 😍😳🙀. Greetings and happy Tuesday @bilgin70 !!! 🙏🏻😊

Thank you very much for your visit. I've never seen a white peacock before. It was beautiful. There was a different coloured one inside, but it didn't come out. He probably couldn't get used to people or had trouble adapting to the environment.
