Pressure on the marine ecosystem due to the increasing marine tourism activities in the waters of Sabang has encouraged coral reef restoration efforts and this has also been carried out in one of the Gapang coastal areas, where this activity was carried out as a response to the decline in coral cover in a number of diving and snorkeling tourist spots, so in this simple blog, I will share one of the restored areas.

After enjoying the atmosphere at Gapang Beach, one of the marine tourism destinations, I continued my journey, following my feet, until I finally arrived at one of the coral reef restoration sites in the area.
So, please continue following this simple blog of mine, as I will share brief glimpses of this area.
Located within the waters of Gapang Beach, Sabang City, I stopped by briefly to explore the restored area to promote coral reef conservation. This place was once a marine tourism destination, but was subsequently permanently closed to promote coral reef restoration efforts. This was in response to the decline in coral cover at several diving and snorkeling spots, leading to the area being abandoned. This is how it currently looked when I visited a few days ago.

Most of us go to Gapang marine tourism destinations for one reason: the crystal clear sea. But this time I realized and returned from this marine tourism destination with a second reason: Gapang is a sea that we must protect.
That's all I can say briefly during my visit to one of the marine tourism destinations that has been abandoned due to the government's permanent closure, citing concerns about preserving the marine ecosystem, which has been damaged by unfriendly visitors.
And this area still has several wooden gates in the middle of the Shady Garden which also serves as the entrance to the decoration area where coral reef restoration efforts are carried out.
Then I stopped briefly in the area and began to explore it to get a glimpse of the current situation. As soon as I entered, I was immediately greeted by an extraordinary view. But the first thing I did was head to the old pier located within the area. I then found a concrete plaque bearing the Gapang Declaration, a commitment to preserving coastal life and coral reefs, signed by local figures and the community.
I stood there for a long time because this beautiful sea was no coincidence; it still survives today because there are people who are conscious of protecting and preserving its beauty. That was the thought that briefly crossed my mind.

I strongly agree with the permanent closure of this marine tourism destination. Personally, I believe this part of Gapang is still "wild," unpopulated with cafes, deliberately left as a home for fish, turtles, and coral reefs. I briefly wondered if all the beaches were developed and turned into marine tourism destinations, would Sabang, famous for its beautiful coral reefs, still survive in the future?
I started to follow the footsteps to walk on the old pier and honestly I was amazed by the beauty and tranquility provided by this area, how could I not, a rocky coastline with calm water under a sky that was very supportive of the weather at that time, there were no buildings, no loud music, all I saw was a stunning beauty with a tranquility that I could not describe in words.
I think this is truly one of Sabang's hidden paradises, and these few images are what truly captivated me. The water gradations from turquoise to glassy green, the seabed and coral clearly visible from above, and the Green Hill that covers the background like a giant natural pool.

This is the view I saw when I started to look around one of the areas.
And from my simple blog we can take a little lesson, that beauty is because it is maintained, I came to the marine tourism destination of Gapang beach looking for the Maldives of Indonesia, but now I come home with a lesson that the Maldives can be damaged if not maintained, Gapang remains beautiful until now because there is a declaration, this turquoise sea is entrusted to our children and grandchildren, to the small fish that are famous for their beauty, to drivers who want to see Nemo fish in 20 years, So if one day you all have the opportunity to go to Sabang, I hope you stop by Gapang and don't forget to maintain the preservation of the famous beauty because the best tourism is the one that makes us not only say Wow beautiful but also say I am also one of the ranks who maintains this beauty until it survives today
