The View From Adomi Bridge, Volta River- Ghana

The last time I shared pictures of the Adomi bridge it was how it looked at night so people neither saw the water body on which the bridge was nor did they see how magnificent the water body was. I know the view of the bridge at night is pretty but the sight of the water body itself during the day is mind blowing. The bridge is on top of Volta river to allow people cross from Atimpoku to other communities.

The Volta River is the same river that has been dammed(Akosombo dam). The dam is the major hydroelectric dam that supplies electricity to Ghana(there are other dams and supply sources too). It should tell you how huge Volta River is. The river is actually one of the largest man made reservoir in the world by surface area and the largest river in Ghana.

The Volta River has its source from the black Volta, Burkina Faso and runs through Ghana to Ivory Coast and other neighboring countries. I already knew the river was huge but it looked like I underestimated how huge it was. I had the opportunity to cross the bridge and the view!! Stop it!! so beautiful. I just had to come and share with you all.

The view from the bridge is one I haven’t seen before and I know I can never stop saying it. The river is in between mountains and the weather is so cool. It’s as if there’s an air conditioner placed on this bridge. When you get there, you experience “coolness” until you cross and I think we all know why. My sister said the river has even reduced in quantity and that made me imagine how it actually looks when it’s full.

I really wanted to get down from the car and get better view but then over the years, there have been so many stories where the security personnel there say it’s illegal to take pictures whiles on the bridge. Others also say pictures can only be taken at a fee. In order to avoid trouble, I just took pictures of the view whiles the car was moving.

Even though it’s a really busy bridge,I didn’t really see a lot of people crossing the bridge by foot. Those crossing the bridge by foot do not walk very close to the railings. They keep a safe distance. There are hawkers though but then they are only at the other side of the bridge. There aren’t a lot of houses by the river, just some few that I was told were for staycations. All that you’ll see from about 20 minutes drive when approaching the bridge are just mountains.

The view from the bridge is so dreamy. You might get lost in it like I did. It’s actually good that it’s a busy road so the honks from cars would just bring you back to reality. I’m glad I got to see this with my own eyes after so many years of seeing it on TV. It’s probably the best thing I’ve seen this year.

Yeah I know right☺️
First place we’re visiting when you come to Ghana☺️

You actually took nice pictures of the bridge even while in the car. So beautiful 😍
What do you expect of its coolness before? When you stand near such a bridge, you feel the natural air conditioner and would not want to leave so soon. This is amazing nature.

Thank you☺️

Oh yeah I didn’t even think of that in the first place

You are welcome ☺️

Nice shots, the bridge looks really nice during the day but way better at night.
Definitely a sight for sore eyes #dreemport
