Today, I had the chance to visit Tupi, South Cotabato, and it was such an amazing experience! As we drove into tow, one thing immediately caught my attention, the endless view of pineapple fields and the Mount Matutum. Now wonder South Cotabato is famous for its sweet, juicy pineapples.

Tupi is home to the well-known pineapple varieties: Queen, Hawaiian and Smooth Cayenne. The Queen variety is small and super sweet, perfect for snacking, the Hawaiian pineapple is bigger, juicy and very popular in the market. The Smooth Cayenne, on the other hand is great for processing, this is what they often use for pineapple juice and canned products. Learning about these varieties made me appreciate even more how important pineapple farming is to this area.

The farms here are so wide and well-kept, it’s a beautiful sight! What’s even more amazing is how these farms provided livelihood to the Locals. You can really feel how agriculture supports the community and keeps the town thriving.

Aside from the farms, the fruit stalls along the highway are another highlight. They are very convenient for travelers who want to buy fresh fruits without going too far, The prices are affordable, and the quality is impressive. You can find pineapples, bananas, papaya and other local produce, all freshly harvested.

My kids also enjoyed this trip so much. My little one’s eyes grew wide in amazement when, she saw the actual pineapples growing in the field. It was a great learning experience for her, seeing where fruits really came from, not just from the market or grocery store.

This trip to Tupi was short but memorable. We enjoy explore there and went home with bags full of pineapples, happy heart and story to tell.
