[Esp/Eng] Children's day- how it's been celebrated!

Children's Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the incredible children in our lives, this day is celebrated differently by different nations, and my nation celebrates its Children's Day on the 27th day of May. It is also a day that celebrates the growth and bright future of children cause they say "Children are the leaders of tomorrow".

Growing up I can vividly remember how this incredible day is being celebrated in my state of origin, the day starts with being a nationwide public holiday and that means "school-free day" so the government of my state will host different schools to have a picnic at the local park.

Now if you are lucky enough to be selected by your school then you'd be among those who will participate in the picnic, one faithful year I was opportune to be selected by my school "That was the happiest day of my life then" so when I got home the previous day, I told my mum the good news, and my mum had to prepare me for the picnic the following day.

On getting to the picnic venue different schools had arrived with their pupils, and the fun began, I will never forget the first activity I engaged in, which was "craft and art" where the organizers brought out papers, pencils, and scissors for us to craft something "I started loving craft from that day" although I didn't win I had this believe "everyone is a winner".

After that, we engaged in a marching parade, I didn't join the parade because I wasn't good at it, but I engaged in so many fun activities, and lastly was the sharing of gifts, the gift I received then was a school bag and a customized water bottle that had my name on it "didn't know how they did it though" those gifts became my favorite the very moment I had them.

When I got home with those gifts, my mum offered to keep them safe for me, I refused, and I started making use of them with immediate effect. I don't know if my state of origin still hosts a children's day celebration like that though cause I haven't heard anyone talking about things like that.

My childhood was fun, there were a lot of activities to engage in during the children's Day celebration, and often my mum would take my siblings and me to the mall and get ice cream, sometimes we would go swimming, and most times we would just stay at home together and my mum would prepare our favorite meal just to make that day memorable for us.

In my culture children aren't celebrated differently, they are celebrated together cause it is believed that "children are a gift" and the gender of the child does not matter, every child holds an important spot in their hearts.

Beautiful post! It's very nice to read your experience. It's clear that you enjoyed your childhood a lot and that your community is very active and aware when it comes to caring for and raising children!

Thank you so much!!! For your nice comment

Children's day celebration nowadays has changed from what it is used to be during my childhood days. Just like you, I was choose by my school to represent in the march past and other activities which was quite unforgettable...now, each school celebrate theirs without coming together like before

Yeah!! It has really changed, currently, it's parents that used to take their out not schools again.

Children get excited when this day is approaching because they know what they would enjoy from it. They also tend to enjoy it more when prizes are given to the best person.

Yeah!! The worst is that the day comes and goes like a flash😔

That is life. Nothing is ever permanent or meant to be static. Lol

Saludos.

Thank you so much!!!

I love Children's Day 😊, it's not the same way they used to celebrate it before, regardless, it's nice to see them put a smile on the faces of little kids
