Without facing them he asked, "what's the frequency?" He received no answer, yet it was no rhetorical question.
He took a deep breath to calm himself before he faced them. Again, he asked, "what's the frequency of light?"
Silence!
He looked at the students. They paid little to no attention. Some were cozy asleep. Some were passing on love notes. Some were just day dreaming. It was like he never even existed. Not in this class.
Looking at the scene in front of him, he felt disheartend. But... He knew he had to regain control. He was in control not them. He slammed his text book on the desk, calling attention to the students.
He leaned forward, his hands resting on the edge of his desk. Emphasizing each word he asked, "Can. Anybody. Tell. Me. What's. The. Frequency. Of. Light?"
They just stared at him...
