Our credibility is like a phone battery. When it's full of charge, it's dependable, consistent, promising; it's trustworthy. Just like a charger to a phone, our actions are the charging cord. By consistently matching our actions with our words, people automatically believe in us.
The same happens with people we meet in life. We tend to give them a full-charge-credibility upon encounter. And it is up to them to keep it charged up or drain their credibility. Instinctively, we monitor the consistence of their words and actions to determine if we can continue trusting them, or throw them to the curb.
But then, when we unplug our phones and start using them, the battery starts to drain. One percentage after the other. The same happens to our credibility. When we entertain inconsistency in our actions, when we lie, when we exaggerate, our credibility drains.
