When you extended a hand of friendship
I received it gladly
Taking it as a show of love
Coming closer, common sense said,
"Tread cautiously", but,
I ignored the sound advice instead,
Embraced you wholeheartedly.
Having indulged in excess of you
You promised to give:
Strength but, gave me weakness
Agility but, gave me laziness
Wisdom but, gave me foolishness
Smartness but, gave me dullness
Alertness but, gave me sleep overdose
Now helpless and weak
You've taken my joy away,
Replaced it with sorrow
Taken my brain away,
Replaced it with forgetfulness
I need a true love,
Love that cares
Love that offers profit,
Not debilitating losses
I need to disentangle from this fake love
To be sound in mind again and,
Reclaim my memory because,
I'm now dead to sound reasoning
Emptying the content of the bottle and,
Filling it inside me uncontrollably
Translates to filling myself with emptiness
Making me to need an antidote
To bring me back to normal life and,
Put my brain in order and,
Restore my strength and dignity.
