Under the silver moon, the lake developed into a stage. Gathering, the frogs' green coats shone like emerald silk.
The ballet started at the first ripple, leaps like shooting stars, spins like falling petals, every splash a note in the song of the night.
Golden lantern-light fireflies hovered above, while the wind mumbled through the reeds like applause. Heart beating fast, the baby frog leaped farther than he had ever done and landed with a flawless splash that caused ripples to illuminate the water.
For a short while, time stopped. The pond shimmered, the stars twinkled closer, and every creature knew they had witnessed magic, the night the swamp became a dream.
