There's no turning on the television, checking your phone or scrolling on your feed where you don't hear or see anything about AI. In just a couple of years AI has improved so much. It writes code, composes music, edits images and even talks to you. I tried holding a conversation with Chatgpt 4o modelz the paid version it was pretty good, a bit too professional a response but still very cool.
It is possible to feel that if you are not already included in this new movement, you're falling behind. But the fact is that, not everyone in the industry takes the opinion that you need to pursue it that aggressively. Demis
Hassabis, director of Google DeepMind, said some things that surprised me. He instructed students to return to the fundamentals. Not back in the sense of backwards. But back in the sense of deeper. Rather than jumping to create AI tools or apps, he said, learn math and learn science. Learn about how things actually work.
It may not be thrilling to you initially. Learning how an algorithm works does not get likes, but it gives a solid foundation. He was not asking people to lose their curiosity about AI. He is only asking people to be curious about the things under it too.
That reminded me of how simple it is to bypass the dull stuff. You see someone on the internet who created some awesome gadget in a weekend and you are already behind. But they might get burned out or plateau, as they don’t get the fundamentals they created it on. The ones who are going to make it are the ones who are asking more, not less. There's pressure to catch up. Perhaps the better option is to slow down. Not to bring things to a complete halt, but to listen. To get to know.
