AI tools like ChatGPT changed the entire internet in 2022, facts. The majority of content online is now AI produced not human generated content. Have you gone to tiktok, just type #ai and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It looks like progress for AI and it is but this also creates a significant issue. AI does poorly when learning from AI generated data. Each time this happens, it becomes cumulatively less intelligent. They call the situation a model collapse.
Certainly the AI companies are working on a solution for this and my best guess is labels which can let them identify which is AI and which is human to filter the AI ones and train on the human generated ones.
Some people compare the situation to nuclear tests conducted in 1945. Steel created post 1945 was forever contaminated by radiation after the nuclear tests. Clean steel created prior to 1945 was rare and precious. Today, all of the data collected before 2022 is clean and seen as precious because you're 100 percent confident that it is human generated content.
The reason there's a real need to protect the human generated ones is because soon even AI will find it difficult to tell whether something is real or generated by itself.
We definitely need to protect this clean data. If clean data is lost, human generated content, and therefore new models produced from this data, will be counted as unusable.
I'm starting to have more interest in anything certified as human generated because I understand that it's the real fuel of the future technology. So be creative, share what's yours and together with our own Data we can make the world better.
I'll do more research into whether or not AI can actually thrive on AI because I doubt that's possible. But what if we had AGI, will.it be able to thrive on it's own without any further human involvement?
