Does Western civilization have cognitive dissonance?

We are living in strange times. It is clear that many people today choose to ignore what is right in front of them, even when it is clearly on fire, emitting a strong smell of gunpowder, and every headline is an alarm disguised as news.

And why don't we see it?
The silent and powerful enemy here is cognitive dissonance. That mental noise that appears when reality contradicts what we've believed all our lives. When the media says "everything is fine," but we know something doesn't add up. When the official narrative breaks down, we cling to it because the abyss that opens if we let go is too terrifying.

The media no longer informs us; they format us.
The media is no longer designed to seek the truth. They are designed to program collective perception. Their goal is to make you believe what's convenient, to make you fear what they decide, and to make you not question the script. If you dare to think differently, they'll label you: conspiracy theorist, crazy, radical, misinformer.

They tell you that Russia is the villain, that Ukraine is the victim, that Israel is defending itself, that Iran is a terrorist, that China is dangerous. They never explain why there are US military bases halfway around the world or why the dollar trembles every time someone strays from the script.

We are on the brink of disaster, and no one wants to see it.
The problem isn't that we're on the verge of a nuclear world war. The real problem is that we're not processing it. Most of us remain entrenched in our routines, passively consuming Netflix and engaging in trivial online discussions, as if the world were not rapidly disintegrating around us.

We are not prepared to accept the possibility of a Third World War—or a nuclear one, for that matter. This would involve an emotional, philosophical, and spiritual collapse.

It's easier to look the other way, mock the messenger, and ignore the evidence we have Cognitive Dissonance: The Veil That Prevents Us from Seeing

We live in strange times. Times when a large part of humanity prefers not to see what's right in front of their eyes, even if it's on fire, even if it smells like gunpowder, even if every headline is an alarm disguised as news.

We don't see it, because there's a silent and powerful enemy called disinformation and it produced cognitive dissonance. That mental noise that appears when reality contradicts what we've believed all our lives. When the media says "everything is fine," but we feel in our stomach that something doesn't add up. When the official narrative breaks down, but we cling to it because the abyss that opens if we let go is too terrifying.

The media no longer informs us; they format us. They lied us.
The media are no longer designed to seek the truth. They are designed to program collective perception. So that you believe what's convenient, so that you fear what they decide, so that you don't question the script. And if you dare to think differently, they label you: conspiracy theorist, crazy, radical, misinformer.

They tell you that Russia is the problem, that Ukraine is the victim, that Israel is defending itself, that Iran has nuclear armament , that China is dangerous. But they never explain why there are US military bases all around the world, or why the dollar trembles every time someone strays from the script.

We are on the brink of disaster, and no one wants to see it.
The problem isn't that we're on the verge of a nuclear world war. The real problem is that we're not processing it. Most of us are still stuck in our routines, watching Netflix, discussing banalities online, as if the world weren't slowly falling apart.

Because accepting the possibility of a Third World War and a nuclear one at that involves an emotional, physical, and mental collapse for which we are not prepared. So it's easier to look the other way, mock the messenger, ignore the evidence.

The consequences of living under the influence of the Media are:

  • We Live Unprepared: If a nuclear attack were to occur, most people would have no idea what to do.
  • We Are Manipulable: We continue to believe that everything shown on TV is "official" and therefore real.
  • We have become passive accomplices: By not questioning, by not acting, we become part of the problem.

This is a call to consciousness. The true revolution today is not in the streets; it lies in thinking differently, seeing beyond, connecting the dots that hide from us.

Because the war has already begun, not with bombs, but with lies and narratives. And if we don't wake up now, by the time the first atomic bomb explodes, it may be too late to change course.

Peace is not built on ignorance.
It is built on truth, even if it hurts.
I think it is important to "be present" at the present time.
