So what does it mean to have great workplace. This might be subjective to so that may read but I think a great workplace in 2025 is about more than finances and titles. This is so because we're now looking for a greater meaning in our work. Employees are looking for work that matters, has potential for growth and is impactful in some way. They are also looking for a connection at work to community and time in their personal lives as well.

Airbnb exemplifies these ideals in meaningful ways. During the pandemic and layoff situations, individually the company dedicated time to help people outside of their company, find new jobs. All of these unpaid acts cared for and valued people at virtually zero cost to the company and regardless of whether they were leaving a job, being laid off or just moving on.

People are searching for flexible work arrangements and hopefully if they can snatch up a remote work for the same pay they would be proud.

Research on the work life balance shows people who can work home 1 day a week or 2 days a week will be happier employees and will also remain employed longer than employees with no flexibility. In fact some employees claim their productivity is greater while tele commuting in some cases.

Diversity and inclusion have not disappeared even if the public fair rules have changed. Companies are still deciphering the meaning of being fair and fairly providing the same opportunities to all employees. So what is fair? Let me know in the comments.

In times of major events or mega threats, it is critical that managers engage their teams. To engage their teams managers must listen and are aware of their role, understanding the art of listening is also about being kind, inclusive, dignified and respectful. Being kind, dignified, and respectful are all desired elements for employees to feel valued and safe in a work environment.
