Janice had been working in the sales department for 3 years and earlier this month, she had a new supervisor from another team whom had been deployed over because of some restructuring happening within the sales and marketing teams.
Her new supervisor is always friendly and carries a smile on his face. Recently, he seemed to get overly friendly and Janice did not feel comfortable. Whenever he comes by to discuss on work issues, her supervisor will get awkwardly close to her and at times even put his hands on her shoulders. While it could be just be him being friendly, Janice felt that being overly touchy when they are not a couple, such actions are really quite offensive. In view of that, she went to HR and sought help from a HR executive whom helped Janice to mediate a conversation to address this issue with her supervisor whom subsequently apologized and noted on how offensive it could be with his touchy gestures.
