I am sometimes really annoyed with my supervisor when he assumes my sick leave is always associated with mild illness and I can be ready anytime to turn on my laptop and answer his queries and send him updates.
While there could be others whom might be abusing the sick leave to do other things than being really sick, it is important to know that not everyone behaves this way. There are people whom are genuinely sick and need those extra hours to recover, catch up on sleep and for medicine to take effect. While things can be pressing, do leave your employees some space unless you really see an issue with their work and need special attention.
Otherwise, it is important to allow your employees the sick leave they need. Who knows you might get the same treatment from your own supervisors when you are sick and in deep need of rest as well.
