All, doing a 5 minute freewrite. Thank you for reading.

Chris had been working hard day and night after his discovery to refine his study, collect information and penning down all of his observation of his discovery. He was so into this discovery that he wanted to file for a patent because he wants this discovery to be pegged to his name.
He then reached out to his professor to get his discovery and results validated and seek advice on how to file a patent. But when his professor saw what he discovered and the results collected, he let out a smile and told Chris that it nothing novel and cannot qualify for filing of patent. His professor then opened his drawer and took out a file then hand that file to Chris.
Chris opened it up and read, it was a discovery that is super similar to what he had and this was filed 5 years ago even before Chris did his doctorate. His professor then told Chris, "Sorry to disappoint you, but I own the patent." Chris's excitement dropped to rock bottom but his professor told him, change the angle of wording his discovery, there is still a good chance to get filed as an exclusive patent. And Chris headed back to continue working on what he is doing after getting advice from his professor.
