Life could be so confusing sometimes but once in a while something reveals itself in crystal clarity so unambiguously that no other possible explanation can be given.
Lila was in the middle of one of those moments. Her beloved pet iguana had just died in a tragic hit and run accident. She had gone to her fiance for comfort and found him in the arms of her best friend. Horrified, she drove home to cry about it and found the entire apartment building engulfed in flames.
The envelope in her purse with the ticket her mother had sent was just about the only thing in her life that she still owned. She swore she wouldn't use it when it first arrived but the fates had decided without her consent and with a cruel finality that she could not ignore.
