Twisted and cunny
He casts his evil spell
The king's trusted aide
E'er worse than Marcus Brutus

The white wizard
Whose evil sword grins
The demon within gleams
For darkness owns him

Darkened Reflections
Of a warped soul
Withered by many lies
Possessed by evil's depth

I ask the General a question
"Why is this evil you?
"Why are you trapped,
Inside a mind of pure hate?

You won the king's heart
Now you let him down
With smiles so deceptive
And lead him into captivity

Friendship started at childhood
A prince and a poor orphan
"What coin pay you back your King?
Only the pain of a friend's backstab!

What a poignant and thought-provoking piece! Betrayal is simply trust shattered by deceit and you capture it so well with the reference to Marcus Brutus. I'll say beware of the deceptive smiles. It births pain and captivity! I love your poem. You write beautifully. 🙂

Somehow it's impossible to do good and be rewarded with loyalty for that. Most likely because the prince knows who the poor kid once was and is therefore a threat.
