A man by the name of Daro lived in the tranquil farming community of Eldan, which is situated between two tranquil mountains. Everyone knew him because he was regarded as an "imbecile" rather than because he was wealthy or wise. When he attempted to count cows, he was laughed at and ended up counting the same cow five times. The manner in which he addressed rocks and talked to trees was mocked by children. Farmers shook their heads when he showed up to help and accidentally planted corn upside down.
They'd say, "Daro's mind is empty." > "He's innocent but hopeless." Underneath his simple smile, however, was a "pure heart" and "unshakeable faith" in goodness that no one could see. ---
The Day Trouble Surrounded Us A strange illness struck the nation one summer. It began with the crops, which began to rot in the soil. The animals then became ill. Then the people. The village was overcome with fear. There was no answer from wise men. Rich merchants fled. Even the mayor locked himself in his home.
Daro, though? He did what no one else would: he entered the dreaded forest by walking "into the forest" and asserting that the trees had whispered a cure to him. > They said, "There goes the fool." > "He'll never come back." ---
The Journey of the Fool
Daro spent days wandering, sleeping under leaves and conversing with birds. He came across an old well that had been partially covered by vines. He noticed [a glowing flower] emerging from the stones as he leaned over. He thought back to something his grandmother had once told him as a child: > “When the land is cursed, the heart of nature will bloom once more.”
He picked the flower immediately and carried it in his shirt back to the village. ---
The Treatment The village laughed when they saw him return, muddy and scratched, holding a flower like it was treasure.
But when he crushed its petals and added clean water to it, the first sick child drank it, stood up, and smiled, and the laughter stopped. Within days, the village was healed.
The crops returned.
The animals became more robust. And the people, who once ignored Daro, now bowed before him.
A Brand-New Title He was no longer called a fool by them. They referred to him as "Daro the Gentle." "Daro the Brave," ** "Eldan's Glory." **
He turned down wealth offers. He turned down the mayor's offer of the throne. He only asked to continue naming trees and communicating with the sky. > He once stated, "I didn't save the village." “Love did. Those who listen with their hearts hear the world.
Moral:
Wisdom does not always wear robes or crowns.
It sometimes wears rags, smiles frequently, and counts cows multiple times. However, it nonetheless affects the world. ---
