Greetings my beloved one's, how are you all doing today?
People often say things like "Take it easy" or "Just relax, things will work out" when life gets tough. However, the reality is that trying times are not the time to sit back and do nothing. In fact, these are precisely the times when we need to keep our eyes open, keep moving, and take on the situation head-on. Life doesn’t pause just because we’re tired or scared. Because we are overwhelmed, the world keeps spinning, bills keep coming, and responsibilities don't go away. When things get tough, we run the risk of losing control if we relax too much.
Imagine a person trapped in the middle of a turbulent ocean. If they stop swimming and just float, hoping the waves will carry them to shore, they could drift even further away. In a similar vein, sitting back and praying for miracles when we are dealing with health issues, job loss, financial issues, family conflicts, or other issues can exacerbate the situation. Problems, like fire, tend to grow when left alone. Even if it is uncomfortable or painful, they must be handled step by step.

Difficult circumstances also build character. They are analogous to the heat that transforms soft clay into sturdy pottery. We miss the chance to develop, learn, and discover our hidden strength if we relax too quickly. Despite being unpleasant, pressure forces us to think more clearly, act more quickly, and mature. Struggle teaches lessons that comfort never will.
Most importantly, exercising even when things are tough gives us a sense of control. Even if everything isn’t perfect, doing something—anything—gives hope. Whether it’s making small plans, looking for help, or simply pushing forward with daily tasks, action keeps the mind from falling into despair.
So no, tough times are not for relaxing. They want to rise. They are the aspects of life that distinguish sailors from drifters. We must not loosen our grip but rather tighten it when the road is rough.
