I've watched some interschool competitions before where the smart kids from individual schools come to a center to battle it out on which school has the brightest children. It's such a beautiful this to look at. Being smart and being fast especially with maths and science is glorified and honored.
Guess what's going to happen to that situation in a few years. Kids that would have pursued godmode genius levels don't see the need to and it's thanks to chatgpt.
Don't get me wrong, I'm on the said of all of the AI technology out there. I see how quickly work gets done and I appreciate the value it brings. Productivity level goes to a whole new level thanks to all sorts of AI. Infact I tried suno AI yesterday which is a music generating AI. Which just a prompt I made a whole song which sounded like something Katy Perry would sing. We can do a lot of exciting things with AI but at what cost?
I'm not talking about losing jobs or the fact that Katy Perry would see this and start lashing out because her future in music will be taken over by AI, no. I'm talking about the kids that won't bother to put in the effort to become geniuses. The issue is we still need those geniuses.
If we become too dependent on AI, we're going to create the next generation of some of the dumbest people ever evolved. If that happens, what then becomes he future of the world. If AI keeps dominating and we don't educate the kids on the proper way to use it, school would just become a place we learn how to prompt AI engines. So that means, no AI, no work that day.
We're totally screwed if that becomes the outcome. So how will we prevent this from happening? I always believe in having this well balanced. AI plus people, all working together. Our civilization could be the most powerful if we get this right or the stupidest of we get it wrong.
