On that fateful morning, Uche and I were on the balcony discussing our neighbour’s Caucasian Shepherd Dog, Mars. This Dog barks uncontrollably and at any slightest provocation. As Uchenna was trying to adjust his chair, we heard shouts; Mars had cut his chain and was pursuing another tenant's Cat. Everybody was taking cover to avoid an accidental bite from Mars when he caught the cat. Mars held the cat in his mouth for more than 5 minutes while people shouted, but being careful not to invoke the wrath of Mars. This carrot and horse game continued until Daniel, the owner of the Dog, arrived on the scene. Immediately Mars sighted him, he dropped the Cat.

The Cat lay motionless while passersby were empathising with the owner, Chai, the poor cat is dead, look at the poor cat, he suffered injuries from Mars' bite, and it has died. As they were sympathising with the owner, Uche moved close to the Cat and touched it. Fiaan, the cat, jerked up, picked up race and disappeared from that scene. Everybody heaved a sigh of relief, chorusing, 'Oh, it's not quite dead.'
