I remember a few years ago, in a simple restaurant, I found two Latinos working as waiters, one from Colombia and the other from Cuba. One of them came to our table to serve us, and it was then, as we spoke, that I realized that, like me, they came from the Caribbean.
During the evening, everything was perfect, the service impeccable, but one of the waiters looked tired. I thought to ask the waiter who was serving me what was wrong with the other waiter, and he replied, "He's already been working a twelve-hour shift." Goodness, twelve hours on his feet! Sometimes we judge others without putting ourselves in their shoes.

Pues, siempre hay un camarero que se la lleva mejor contigo; es que no todos somos iguales. “El otro camarero” es una frase que he escuchado decir muchas veces; hasta yo la he utilizado para señalar a tal cual barman o mesonero.

Recuerdo que hace unos años, en un restaurante sencillo, encontré a dos latinos trabajando como mesoneros, uno de Colombia y el otro de Cuba. Uno de ellos llegó a la mesa para atendernos y es allí, al hablar, que me di cuenta de que, como yo, venían de tierras caribeñas.
Durante la velada, todo fue perfecto, la atención insuperable, pero en la cara de uno de los camareros se notaba el cansancio. Se me ocurrió preguntar al mesero que me atendía qué le pasaba al otro mesero y este me respondió: “él tiene ya una jornada de doce horas trabajando”. Dios, 12 horas de pie, simplemente, a veces cuestionamos a los demás sin ponernos en sus zapatos.
