I've met several women and men who, without realizing it, were “amateur detectives”. I would say, without fear of being wrong, that a jealous person, being jealous of their partners, would dedicate themselves to tracking down any clue that might give them away.
I believe that each of us is an amateur detective, and we observe the breadth of the term, specifically as it relates to solving mysteries; we all fit into it.
The peculiarity arises when we affirm that “every detective must be an investigator”, but not every investigator is a detective; it sounds like a tongue twister, but it makes sense, given the specific work a professional detective does.

Conocí a varias mujeres y hombres que, sin ellos saberlo, eran “detectives aficionados”. Yo diría, sin temor a equivocarme, que una persona celosa, pues, celando a sus parejas, se dedicaba a rastrear cualquier indicio que les delatara.
Creo que cada uno de nosotros es detective aficionado y observamos la amplitud del término, específicamente lo relacionado con el resolver misterios, todos encajamos en él.
La singularidad se da cuando afirmamos que “todo detective debe ser un investigador”, pero no todo investigador es un detective; parece un trabalenguas, pero tiene sentido, por el trabajo específico que hace un detective profesional.
Yo generalizaría que toda persona celosa se convierte sin pensarlo en un detective aficionado; lo mismo hace un padre o madre cuando presiente que su hijo o hija anda en malos pasos.
