Recommendation Kaichou wa Maid-sama: She just wants her secret to remain hidden. [Eng/Esp]

in The Anime Realm3 months ago

Hello, anime lovers!

I hope you are all doing well. Today I bring you one of my favorite romantic comedy anime series. I watched it years ago when I was younger, and I rewatch it every so often when I just want something light, funny, and entertaining to pass the time. It's one of those anime series that's been around for a while, with an animation and drawing style characteristic of older anime, and that's honestly one of the reasons I love it.

This anime is called Kaichou wa Maid-sama, a romantic comedy with drama and laughter, but also moments of tension. The story follows the life of Misaki Ayuzawa, a strong, brave, kind, and determined young student, but also dominant, impulsive, and somewhat intimidating. Misaki studies at Seika High School, which until recently was an all-boys school, and even though it has become co-ed, the school is still 70% male and 20% female.

Misaki, seeing this imbalance and the fact that many of her male classmates are rebellious and terrorize their female classmates, decides to take matters into her own hands and become the president of the student council. From this point on, Misaki, with her new position and extraordinary strength, aggressively imposes her authority throughout the high school, especially on the boys, whom she often subdues and embarrasses at will, causing some to fear her and others to hate her.

Despite her tough and harsh attitude in high school, Misaki hides a rather sad family reality, but that doesn't stop her from moving forward. The reality is that she, her mother, and her younger sister were abandoned by their father, who left them with a lot of debt, which ended up falling on them. Since then, they have lived in poverty.

Misaki, seeing her family's situation, decides to look for a job that will not prevent her from studying, so she ends up working in a Maid Café, where she dresses as a maid and serves customers, mostly men who, unfortunately, sometimes put her in uncomfortable situations. Everything changes when her secret is discovered by the most popular boy at Seika, the mysterious Usui Takumi, who, upon learning of Misaki's situation, does not mock her but instead does everything he can to help her and solve her problems.

From there, the two form a close but unusual relationship as they navigate challenges and situations that threaten Misaki's secret. Usui, nicknamed by Misaki as “Perverted Alien from Planet Pheromone,” is good at literally everything he does, from chess, cooking, athletics, carpentry (in fact, in one chapter he went to her house and ended up repairing her floor, ha ha ha), among other skills, which he uses to help Misaki when she has problems or to get her out of trouble, all with the goal, as he himself says, “of making her fall in love with him as much as he wants.”

Sooner rather than later, Misaki learns from Usui that she doesn't have to face everything alone and that she can trust others, as she begins to see beyond Usui's usual indifference toward others and his perfection. Along the way, both she and Usui will encounter enemies who will do whatever it takes to disrupt their lives and put them in difficult situations. Fortunately, they will also make friends who will do whatever it takes to help them.

This is an anime that I personally love, mainly because of the situations Misaki ends up in and, by extension, Usui, who is always trying to take care of Misaki. The scenes are hilarious, especially when Misaki has to deal with her high school classmates, who sometimes really do behave like animals. Misaki and Usui's relationship is also very cute, although at first it tends to be somewhat tense because Misaki is very distrustful of Usui and Usui is very eccentric in his behavior towards Misaki, whom he considers his “personal maid.” However, as the story progresses, their relationship evolves into one of trust and respect, but also of support and love, of course with a lot of comedic tension and sarcasm thrown in, but also with sweet moments.

Now, this is a shojo anime, so it falls into many of the stereotypes of the genre, and although the anime presents some social criticism, it doesn't delve very deeply into it. Even so, I believe that when one watches anime or anything else, one is not always looking for something “deep and intellectual”; sometimes people just want to watch something entertaining that makes them smile, so I think this anime is perfect for that. In addition, the dynamic between Misaki and Usui is simply charming, presenting a perfect balance between romance and comedy.

This anime has 26 episodes and an OVA (an extra episode of the anime) and only covers part of the manga on which it is based, which is certainly more in-depth and allows you to see more of Usui's story.

If you've made it this far, I hope you liked the recommendation and that you'll be inspired to watch this great story!

What a nice suggestion! 💕 I loved how you showed that Misaki was not only strong-willed and strives to achieve things but she is also a vulnerable person who conceals this strength with her strong demeanor. Usui is always incorporated with that right amount of comedy and support which is important in building their relationship up as the series progress. I understand you, there are times when we do not need something profound- just an anime that can make us grin and keeps us amused. This post has urged me badly to rewatch it as well! 🌸

Thank you for your words! It's a very good anime and Misaki and Usui's relationship is lovely, especially how it evolves, and the laughs are definitely not lacking.

Really a lovely anime ❤️❤️❤️

Stoooooop! kaichou wa Maid-sama is an ultimate favorite anime of mineeeeee 😍 every characters are lovable except for that one weird customer who tried to harm Misaki 😭...Usui? His a prince, I love him so so much. A lot of people are saying his a red flag but no I strongly disagree! I bet they didn't pay much attention while watching the anime or reading the manga. His the best!
I'm more of an anime watcher than a manga reader but since the anime was incomplete 😭 I end up reading the manga, that's how much I love Usui & Misaki. I remember how my tummy would ache from laughing so hard, and how I would feel butterflies in my stomach.
It's an anime I would keep on rewatching. Oh, how I wish to meet someone like Usui. Also, just wanna say how much I find Misaki-chan cool especially that one time when they all dressed up as guys in the cafe ahhhhh I love them so much. Seems like I yapped too much, but this just show how much I love it.

I love it too, I watched it years ago and I don't forget it, so from time to time I watch it again. It's a great story and the characters ufff are the best, Misaki is the best, brave, smart and kind and Usui I love it, he made me laugh a lot and all the things he did for Misaki, like helping her and getting her out of trouble, he was literally the MAN, he did everything for Misaki and more, although sometimes he was tremendous, but his crazy things made me laugh a lot. Glad to see you like him as much as I do.
