Let me just start by saying I didn’t even plan to watch Jujutsu Kaisen ,it was all over the anime streets you know what I mean,my friends were shouting “Gojo this, Sukuna that” here and there, and I was like please,what is all this hype? But as a certified anime lover, I could not just ignore it forever, So one night like that, I just decided to give it a try, and God! I was not ready, From episode one, I knew I had entered one chance.
The story starts with this seemingly normal high school boy, Yuji Itadori, He is not even looking for trouble, He just likes living a simple life, spending time with his grandpa, and being part of a weird occult club, Then boom! One cursed finger later, the guy has swallow ancient demon (yes, demon o, with full chest) that demon is Sukuna, and let me tell you, that guy is not joke at all, From there, everything just turned upside down for Itadori, He entered a dark, cursed world that even His village people cannot take him out from.
Then we meet Fushiguro Megumi, fine boy, dark vibes, serious face all the time, I liked him from the start, and then Nobara Kugisaki she is that babe that does not take nonsense,The three of them end up in Jujutsu High, and that is where the ride officially begins.
Oh, I can't talk about Jujutsu Kaisen without shouting out Gojo Satoru!!! That man, sorry, that god! Blindfolded king with blue eyes that can shatter your screen, Gojo is that character that is overpowered, cocky, stylish and still funny af. The way he plays around like he is unserious, but when it is time for fight, everybody will join and fight.
The animation in this anime is top-tier ,Big shout out to MAPPA studio because those fight scenes? Clean. No shaking. No ugly frames ,Just pure madness,the domain expansions, the cursed techniques, everything was giving.
That fight between Gojo and Jogo, then the Itadori and Todo vs Hanami fight? Goosebumps! Literal goosebumps!
Now let’s not forget Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel movie. I watched it and I was like, so this is the kind of pain MAPPA wants to be dishing us? ,We meet Yuta Okkotsu, and his love story with Rika, omo, it was tragic and sweet at the same time, that cursed spirit love was deep, Yuta’s power? Mad! .That boy carried the whole movie on his back and walked majestically.
One thing I also love about this anime is how they balance seriousness and comedy so well , Like one second you are tearing up over a character death, and the next second Gojo will say something stupid that will make you laugh out loud. JJK gives you everything , emotion, action, mystery, and sometimes existential crisis.
Season 2 now came with its own madness. The Gojo past arc and Shibuya incident were not for the weak-hearted, Let’s just say, if you love your fave characters too much, you are not ready,emotional damage full ground.
But one thing I will say is that Jujutsu Kaisen is not just hype, It is truly a well done anime with good characters, strong development, epic fight scenes, and storylines that will leave you screaming “WTF just happened?”
If you have not watched it yet, what are you doing? Oya carry your phone or laptop and start, Trust me, it is one of those shows you will not regret, I am now one of those people shouting “Gojo is HIM!” and I have no shame.
