Dear friends of #wednesdaywalk, I wish you a wonderful day. As every week, I am very happy to be here with you, sharing a new tour thanks to the beautiful initiative of our dear friend @tattoodjay, who brings us together every Wednesday in this lovely initiative.
Today I will tell you about a very special day I experienced, a day unlike any other, full of emotions and beautiful moments. I had a big family commitment, so I decided to talk to my clients, who very kindly understood the situation and gave me their approval to take the day off. That way I could devote myself completely to what I wanted most: celebrating my dad's 83rd birthday.
The day started early, as usual. After breakfast and organizing the last details, the three of us left for my father's house, with a small cake in hand and a lot of excitement in our hearts. Our intention was to spoil him and share this new year of life with him. Eighty-three years don't come around every day, and we wanted to make him feel special.
Queridos amigos de #wednesdaywalk, les deseo un día maravilloso. Como cada semana, me siento muy feliz de estar aquí con ustedes, compartiéndoles un nuevo recorrido gracias a la hermosa iniciativa de nuestro querido amigo @tattoodjay, que nos une cada miércoles en esta linda iniciativa.
Hoy les contaré sobre un día muy especial que viví, un día diferente al resto, cargado de emociones y momentos hermosos. Tenía un gran compromiso familiar, por lo cual decidí hablar con mis clientes, quienes, muy amablemente, entendieron la situación y me dieron su visto bueno para tomarme el día libre. Así pude dedicarme por completo a lo que más quería: celebrar el cumpleaños número 83 de mi papá.
El día comenzó temprano, como de costumbre. Después de desayunar y organizar los últimos detalles, salimos los tres rumbo a casa de mi padre, con una pequeña torta en mano y mucha ilusión en el corazón. Nuestra intención era consentirlo y compartir con él este nuevo año de vida. Ochenta y tres años no se cumplen todos los días, y queríamos hacerlo sentir especial.
When he saw us arrive, his excitement was evident. He hugged us with a big smile and, to our surprise, asked us not to prepare his traditional meal. This time, he wanted to make a big soup, in the best family style. So, without wasting any time, we went together to the nearest Río market to buy all the necessary ingredients.
Al vernos llegar, su emoción fue evidente. Nos abrazó con una gran sonrisa y, para sorpresa nuestra, pidió que no le preparáramos su comida tradicional. Esta vez, él deseaba preparar una gran sopa, al mejor estilo familiar. Así que, sin perder tiempo, fuimos juntos al mercado Río más cercano para comprar todos los ingredientes necesarios.
The goal was clear: to pamper him and make that day a celebration tailored to his tastes. After the market, we stopped at El Bodeguero, a small tavern located on Avenida Luisa Cáceres, very close to Atamo Norte, on Margarita Island.
La meta era clara; mimarlo y hacer de ese día una celebración a su medida. Después del mercado, hicimos una parada en "El Bodeguero “ es un pequeño bodegón ubicado en la Avenida Luisa Cáceres, muy cerca de Atamo Norte, en la Isla de Margarita.
This mini-market is one of our favorites because they offer a wide variety of products. There, we got a couple of Paulaner German beers, the same ones my father had tried during a trip to Europe a few years ago and had talked about with such enthusiasm. We took advantage of the fact that his blood pressure was fine and also bought some Polars in case we had unexpected visitors.
Este minimarket es uno de nuestros preferidos, ya que ofrecen una gran variedad de productos. Ahí, conseguimos un par de cervezas alemanas Paulaner, las mismas que mi padre había probado durante un viaje a Europa hace algunos años y de las cuales había hablado con tanto entusiasmo. Aprovechamos que su tensión estaba bien y, además, compramos unas Polar por si llegaban visitas inesperadas.
Back home, with the shopping done and big smiles on our faces, we got down to work. While we were all chopping vegetables, my dad, with his infectious energy, lit the firewood with my son. Seeing them work as a team was a real treat! Soon we put the chicken and corn in to soften, and once everything was ready, we added the rest of the ingredients to the pot.
De regreso en casa, con la compra hecha y una gran sonrisa en el rostro, nos pusimos manos a la obra. Mientras todos peleábamos verduras, mi papá, con una energía contagiosa, encendía la leña junto a mi hijo. ¡Verlos trabajar en equipo fue un verdadero regalo! Pronto pusimos el pollo con el maíz a ablandar, y una vez todo estuvo listo, agregamos el resto de los ingredientes a la olla.
While the soup was cooking, several of my dad's friends came by to congratulate him. We had a wonderful time together, served the freshly made soup, and sang “Happy Birthday” again. The atmosphere was filled with love, and it was clear how much my father enjoyed being surrounded by people who care about him. That, without a doubt, was the greatest reward of the day we planned for him.
Durante la cocción llegaron varios amigos de mi papá a felicitarlo. Compartimos con ellos un rato muy bonito, servimos la sopa recién hecha y le cantamos cumpleaños nuevamente. Había una atmósfera llena de cariño, y se notaba cuánto disfrutaba mi padre estar rodeado de personas que lo quieren. Esa, sin duda, fue el mayor recompensa del día que le pusimos hacer.
The best part was that he was able to do whatever he wanted. He made soup, ate his cake, and toasted with his two German beers. It was a simple tribute, but one made from the heart, just like how you celebrate the important things in life. As night fell, we headed back home. We felt happy, grateful, and satisfied to have shared such a meaningful day.
Dear friends of Wednesday Walk, that was my journey this week. A different kind of walk, but one filled with family love and moments that will remain etched in my memory.

Lo más bonito fue que él pudo hacer lo que quiso. Preparó la sopa, comió su torta, y brindó con sus dos cervezas alemanas. Fue un homenaje sencillo, pero hecho desde el corazón, como se celebran las cosas importantes de la vida. Ya cayendo la noche, regresamos a casa. Nos sentíamos felices, agradecidos y satisfechos de haber compartido un día tan significativo.
Queridos amigos de Paseo de Miércoles, ese fue mi recorrido de esta semana. Un paseo distinto, pero lleno de amor familiar y de momentos que se quedarán grabados en mi.
