Wednesday walk, foggy Utrecht city center.

in Wednesday Walk26 days ago (edited)

Hello wednesday walkers,

here are pictures of a foggy walkies in Utrecht city.
If I look at the pictures now I think that it looks so tranquil in the pictures but it still is a busy city. It was also very cold that day. That's a thing you do see in the pictures.

this is the "Oude Gracht" (old canal) In the old days they brought the goods and food in to the city by boat. As you can see on the right in this picture, those cellars were to keep the goods in storage. Nowadays those cellars are restaurants and clubs. Very interesting to visit if you are there. It is a bit of a tourist trap, and than I mean those restaurants are not really high cuisine but the atmosphere is very good.

And on the top of the buildings on the right, you see that beam sticking out. The goods were hoisted up trough that beam and lifted in the windows of the houses. Now they are houses, back than it also was storage space.

We wanted to visit the Dom church. To bad it was already closed. I thought it was open until late but that is probably only in summer. But the square around the Dom tower is very nice to.

It was so foggy that you even could'n see the tower peak when you were right underneath it.

The light and the fog made the pictures very moody.

It was around five oçlock and the people started commuting from work to there homes.

This is one of my favorite streets. I think it's sad that cars are still aloud to park around here. I wish I could see it without cars one day.

The mist gives a special touch to your walk, as a mystery and I love it, the streets, the tunnel... beautiful!!!

I love photographing in foggy conditions. Its just so moody!

It gives me the feeling of mystery, like writing stories.

This could be part of a spooky horror in the city story indeed.

I love stories!

the path under the tower is very cool!

That use to be inside the church, but some tornado demolishes that part of the church. Now the tower and church are separated. Happend in 1674.

the fog adds a cool surreal feel to the area

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk

have a great day

I love to phonograph in foggy conditions. Have a great weekend!

me to :)

Beautiful!

When did you take these images? Fresh or old?

Fresh once, at least if you call three weeks ago fresh 😅

I consider that fresh :)

It may look like a tourist trap, but I think the secret charm of the place makes it worth visiting.
The water element seems to be everywhere: in the canal, and in the air (fog).

Well, that's a bit difficult to tell. Many shops and restaurants could be qualified as tourist traps but the city center is a very cool destination to visit. Way better than Amsterdam I think.

Wow so misty! Hehe!

Haha so cool right!

Wow, I really do love all the foggy/ misty shots you get there in the Netherlands. Not much or any here in Arizona. Great pictures. The church arch is so beautiful.

That's one of the best times to take pictures. So moody, I love it!
