First of all, I didn't think I would join this week's #WednesdayWalk, but when I read a wonderful story, in which hibiscus flowers from the botanical garden in Malaga reminded the author of some long-ago days, I decided to take a detour home from work and visit parts of the neighborhood that I rarely walk.
I chose those parts for the reason that I know there are active assemblies of tenants there, who take care of their gardens, regularly plant flowers, plant saplings as a replacement for cut trees...
And the strongest reason is that I know that in several places there are lilac bushes, which are now in bloom and whose flowers smell fantastic.
As the author of the post about hibiscus was reminded of her grandmother who made her hibiscus tea, the smell of lilacs reminds me of my father, who always brought me bouquets of blooming lilacs from the garden of our cottage in the spring, which for days refreshed the living room of my apartment with a wonderful smell.
After enjoying the smell of lilacs, I walked past several children's playgrounds, past the landscaped garden of a local hair salon, and finally stopped at a grocery store to buy myself some fresh lettuce, spring onions, and radishes, which I will prepare for lunch.
The walk, although around the neighborhood, was very pleasant to me.
Until next Wednesday, have a nice walk.
