My wife and I rarely take the same roads twice when traveling by car, and we almost never choose highways. One day we drove high into the mountains and ended up in thick fog. A misty mountain forest is, in my opinion, one of the most atmospheric sights ever. We pulled over and left the car by the roadside for a short walk.

A dirt path led us deeper into the woods.

Nothing suggested that anything unusual was about to happen.

We reached a small clearing and...

...suddenly found a well. Our two silhouettes looked back at us from the still water.

I said something like “Still waters run deep” and my wife turned pale and quickly walked back to the car. What else can I say? It was truly atmospheric.
