The leading path.

Learning skills are critical; I can remember conversing with someone who mentioned how he regrets not learning a skill when he was way younger. But then I replied, "Can't you learn in old age?" I mean, since he can still read and write very well, and besides, not all skill requires writing ability.

There was a point in my life when I wanted to go into programming; with the world today, I feel like it's tech skills that are taking over the world, not those regular skills we are used to. So did I register? Well, I didn't register, or should I say I didn't know what happened, though. I was in the process of registering and kick-starting my career in programming, but then some things happened, and that part was kicked out of my mind. I'm still gonna have an idea in it, though, even if it's just the basics.

I've been talking to a friend about children learning these soft skills as part of their curriculum in schools "but then this part" seems kind of impossible though in my nation. Children are fast learners and can be able to grab whatever comes their way. In my nation having a white-collar job isn't guaranteed after graduating from the university; everyone is faced with the responsibility of creating white-collar jobs for themselves or working in a private firm that is ready to pay you peanuts as a salary.

As children, when they learn this soft skill is gonna be a starting point for them, some are likely to pursue it as a career instead of working in an environment that doesn't value its staff when it comes to their salaries. When they grow to become programmers, they have an edge in making it big by choosing it as a career. Most programmers aren't based in Nigeria because they are valued more outside the nation.

So, I am fully in the motion of children learning coding or programming at that stage of their lives; I see how children of this day or generation love playing with phones and systems. Engaging in something more productive like "programming or coding" is a good idea. Making coding and programming compulsory in school is an amazing idea, though, but then, for a nation like mine, who would want to implement that?

I think it still boils down to the parents to take up for their children by enrolling them in coding and programming classes because when I become a parent someday, that is one of the things I intend to do for my children. They should have knowledge of it and decide what they want from that.

If the government can make coding and programming compulsory in schools, it would be really amazing because children should be able to learn these things at that early stage, and those who would love to pursue a career in it should continue on that path. Currently, no one is ready to work in a 9-5 setting sitting in a room repeating daily routines. The world keeps growing and everyone should grow with it.

The great point is that coding and programming are the best on-line job in the world. I see many developers are working on a nomad way, living wherever they want and only need internet 🛜

I think schools can add to their programs because the first steps could be making using pencil ✏️ and paper 📜 and using a computer it's not indispensable every day.

Yeah, I agree with you, but then the world will also grow past pencil and paper soon.

I accept your point on regret not learning when young

Thank you so much

it will be lovely truly if soft skills like that can be integrated into the school curriculum. just like you, i also wanted to learn programming at some point in my life, i even went as far as buying a system specifically for that purpose but well i am skill thinking of how i will start.

I think you should start it, delay isn't denial though.

You have said it all, the fact is that, if a person does not possess any digital skill, he/she won't be considered employable by most firms. We now live in a tech era and whoever doesn't conform with the trend will fall off.

I believe it will do the next generation some good, if they start learning about how to survive in this tech era at a young age.

Yeah, I believe that someday, coding and programming will take over the world.

I love this and I very well agree with you, teaching kids coding and programming will definitely give them edge in life, and both the parents and the government have huge roles to play to bring this to reality...

Thanks for sharing.
