Once won't hurt.

Human health is one of the most valuable things we have and appreciate as every day goes by. Just like the saying that says "health is wealth" that means our health is also equivalent to our wealth. This statement simply tells how important our health is though some persons try to forget that part.

Just today, I went to the tax office in the state where I'm based to rectify something, and I went there with the tax documents I have. Deep down, I thought that was everything when this official started mentioning the different taxes an organization is supposed to pay. At some point, I became quiet because thinking of all these taxes only makes anger boil in my soul.

Individuals are being forced to pay taxes when they start earning a certain amount of income; paying taxes isn't the issue, but for a nation like mine where our taxes aren't of any benefit to us. Imagine these taxes we pay every day are being used to assist and support the masses in different ways like "the medical aspect of it". Maybe my expectations are just too high that they can't be met.

Medical checkups are very important to mankind; knowing the status of our health is very important; that helps us to know what is going on in our system and what needs to be treated. In my part of the world, people don't care too much about their health like the way they care about putting food on the table. Like my aunty will always say, "You can't tell a hungry man to go for a medical checkup" When a man is hungry, the first thing he thinks of is to put food in his stomach.

As I said, going for medical checkups once a year is a great thing that needs to be made mandatory, and failing to do that would attract a penalty.

Little story: Recently, someone in my workplace collapsed and was rushed to the nearest hospital; when he got there, the doctor discovered something that had been in the person's body for a long time and needed immediate surgery.

Now, if that person has been visiting the hospital for checkups, this immediate surgery wouldn't have been requested; maybe at the early stage, something would have been done to clear that thing out like a drug. But then the person kept quiet and was ignoring the symptoms.

I know people say, "Ignorance is bliss." Well, ignorance can be bliss, but not when it has to do with our health. "That isn't bliss any longer." Our health shouldn't be ignored. Personally, when I notice any little changes in my system, I always go to the hospital for medical checkups; it is always better to know the root of a thing than when it has built branches; I don't know where this parable came from though, but just accept it from me.

One thing people look at before going for checkups is the finances involved because you can't just walk into a clinic and behave like you own it. You need to have money in your pocket to enable you to go for checkups. People always take the financial part into consideration before doing anything. "I don't blame them." Imagine you have just a little money to sustain your stomach, and then your health requires that same money. Food can also be healthy on its own sometimes.

But then going for medical checkups once in a while won't hurt the stomach though. People should learn to do it often rather than staying at home and assuming "it is malaria" all the time.

Thanks for reading 🧡

As you said, health is so important and people should be conscious about the benefits of making annual checkups.

Yeah, but then when the money isn't there, it becomes a problem.

I agree, so there should be an universal and gratuity health services if the government want to make it compulsory!

And that is the biggest problem, people and their financial statements. Because if they had the possibility of quality medical services, they would surely do it. The problem is that there are no effective policies from governments to sustain services that really humanize patients, and that are covered by the State. And the truth, I think that is not going to happen, because as I mentioned before in other publications, the patients only represent money for these large health corporations, so only figures swelling their bank accounts, there are no intention of really helping people who have been suffering for years with diseases.

I agree with you on your point. The government doesn't care about its citizens and their health.

You can't tell a hungry man to go for a medical checkup" When a man is hungry, the first thing he thinks of is to put food in his stomach.

In Brazil, we have good public health, although in some cases it is flawed. There is still a lot to improve. I wish all countries had this option. It should be a right for every human being: to be able to receive treatment without having to pay for it.

I wish such good public health would rendered in my country as well. That will help the citizens a lot.

You are right stomach matters a lot but then it who is healthy that will have a stomach for food

Yeah the stomach is very important

The way people neglect their health all due to financial constraint and ignorance is alarming. Making medical checkups mandatory, with subsidies could help as well.
Thanks for sharing.
