Not to be thrown.

The issue of "homework" is something that has been talked about by different caliber of people, and the truth is that we are yet to get a definite answer on it, or should I just call it "inconclusive" because it's yet to be concluded.

I can remember when I went to spend some quality with my aunty at her place, during my stay, my aunty was always complaining about something and that is "homework" often when her son comes back from school, the moment she opens his school bag and brings out his books to check for homework, now deep down I was at the positive end that there will always be homework but then not this much.

This child goes to school as early as 7am and comes back late in the afternoon, then he has lunch and rests for a while, then goes back to his homework. Often you'd see him working on his homework till late in the night. Sometimes I would be the one to assist him so he could finish faster and get some nice sleep before morning and school calls again.

Now, "homework" isn't a bad thing; it keeps children busy with school activities even at home, so it's quite alright, thinking about it from a positive view. Homework helps children put into practice what they've learned in school. But then it should be moderated, not overdone.

Back then in school, I can remember when my classmates would always murmur when they hear the words "bring out your notebooks and take down this homework" I know why they were murmuring, homework often deprive you of certain activities you are supposed to engage in like "playing with friends in the neighborhood". I know some people who would always ensure to round up their homework before the following day, while the legends sometimes take their homework to school the following day and rush to finish it.

I enjoyed my homework back then, though. What I really loved was the fact that the homework were not much on a normal weekday, but then on weekends, the homework would come like a flood into our lives.

Currently, the way homework is being given to the pupils is way too much, or should I say way too out of the league. Imagine on a weekday, your child is having five homework from five different subjects. And often you see these children being occupied with their books immediately after taking dinner. Some are likely to stay with their books till midnight, and they won't get enough rest. Before the blink of an eye, it's morning already, and you'd see them still wandering in sleep with their eyes closed.

Homework is good, but then it shouldn't be overdone during the weekdays; much homework should be given on weekdays. Children are humans and they possess all sorts of emotions, including "stress," because they don't know how to best describe it, doesn't mean they aren't experiencing it.

Homework plays a huge role in the lives of children, so it shouldn't be thrown under the bus; rather, it should be reduced because excess of everything is bad.

I totally agree with you, homework is important, but too much of it can really wear kids out. There should be a balance so children can learn and still have time to rest and enjoy their childhood.

Yeah. Creating that balance is gonna help kids relax as well.

Thanks for this

Thank you so much!

Everything in the academic structure is subjective to moderation because too much of everything would only make education burdensome. Which also applies to homework, it is a good way of keeping the students occupied but at the same time it shouldn't endanger their health.

Yeah. Imagine children after spending almost all of their day in school. Coming back home to face a hurdle of homework.

I don't even want to subscribe to the ideas of homework anymore, they are turning parents into part-time teacher, putting pressure on them and stressing this kids. There should be a better approach to this, in between, kindly check out my blog for mine..

Thanks for sharing.
