The last time I went to a clinic with my aunty I was opportune to witness a nurse administering first aid to someone who was injured, well the injury was a minor one, but now the items inside the first aid box looked more like a pharmacy inside a small box, a very tiny box having every tool you need inside.
Now here is what has been bothering me, my current company has a first-aid box, so one day I had a small cut on my hand and wanted to use first aid to dress the cut when I went to where it was placed, I brought it down from the high hill it was then I opened it "my mouth can't talk" when I opened it, the kinds of things I saw left me speechless but because of you reading this "I will say what I saw" the first aid box was full of drugs, different kinds of drugs, the question I kept asking myself was "is first aid just for drugs?".

Before going further, we have to understand the term " first aid" It is simply the first care given to someone who is injured or ill before taking that person to the hospital if it's severe and has gone beyond the level of administering a first aid.
Personally, I haven't administered first aid to anyone before maybe in the future I might well I don't know yet cause I'm the kind of person who is scared of the sight of blood. Here is the story of my aunty administering first aid to her son who got injured.
Some weeks back, I decided to visit my aunt I hadn't seen for ages "I mean weeks" When I got to the house she was the only one at home, her son went to ride a bike with his friends, her son was seven years old. After a few hours of my stay, we started hearing noise coming from outside like someone was crying, she even made a joke that her son might have gotten into a fight with a friend cause whenever they are together something must make them exchange punches.

But then the cry became loud and louder so we went outside to check who was crying, the moment we stepped outside, behold it was her son holding his arm and when we checked closely we saw blood, at that moment I screamed as if something was after my life hehe!!! And I was like Aunty he is bleeding, my whole body started shaking then she asked me to go in and bring out her first aid box, I ran inside and came out with it then she sat him down and held his hand "omo the injury wasn't big but the blood alone that came out scared the shit out of me".
First, she washed the surface of the wound with water then she brought out cutting wool soaked it inside the antiseptic, and used it to clean the wound by removing all the dirt particles, in the process of doing all that the bleeding stopped as well, then finally she used penicillin on it and that was all.
Having first aid by the corner where it is easily accessible is important, cause you can't predict when a child or someone else can get injured so having first aid by the side helps in treating minor injuries before escalating to something big. One major thing I learned from the event that occurred is that we can prevent injuries from getting worse when we have first aid. In all first aid is a skill that has the potential to save lives and by that, it reduces the severity of injuries.
