The pain of ghosting

in Hive Learners2 months ago

Hello hive learners community, welcome to my blog and welcome to this week's prompt. I'll be replying to the prompt which asks: Have you ever had to ghost someone? You simply stopped talking to them and cut them out of your life without letting them know. Why did you take such a drastic decision? Is this something you'd wish can be reversed?

Ghosting someone means to stop talking to the person without any explanation whatsoever. People ghost others for different reasons, some do it when they find another love, some do it when they think someone is below them. A friend of mine did this to me and it's still paining me till today because I honestly don't know what I did wrong for her to just ghost me. Anyways, as she ghosted me, I had to move on and later on I realized not everyone you knew growing up will be with you when you're older.

Honestly, I have never ghosted anyone. I don't even have the mind to do it. I have never ghosted someone because I can't do it and I know how I'll feel if I'm being ghosted by someone.
If someone offends me or I feel like we are no longer close like before, I'll talk to the person. I believe in communication. I might not say everything directly and the way it is but I won't just disappear. People ghost for different reasons.

Some ghost people because they feel hurt or tired of the relationship. Some do it because they are afraid to have the hard conversations and face the person. Yes, it's not everyone that can explain how they feel but ghosting can be painful, like very painful especially for the person being ghosted.

Personally, when I'm chatting with someone and I notice they ain't interested in the conversation, I'll just stop talking, I won't force the person. I'm at a point in life where I can't force someone, I'll rather respect their space and silence. I have learnt not to chase people who don't want to be in my life.

After that friend of mine ghosted me, I decided not to keep track of who talks to me and who doesn't. So if eventually someone stops talking to me, I won't notice it or even feel it. Life is too short to hold on to people who don’t want to stay.

Do I wish ghosting could be reversed? Yes, but that's in some cases. I think when people are more open about their feelings, a lot of relationships and friendship won't end suddenly. Even if you want to stop talking to someone at least say a word and let the person have peace of mind.

Finally, ghosting is not something I support. It's better to say something than to keep quiet and just disappear like that. But there are some cases where ghosting is actually better to keep an existing relationship. I believe we should try to be kind and honest, even when walking away. It makes things easier for everyone.

Sort:

They are times we ghost people intentionally probably because the relationship no longer meet our expectations. There are different levels to ghosting someone. It all starts from ignoring a person, ghosting is just the full scale if it. Ghosting might look like a drastic decision but when you ask those that ghosted others, they will also have something to say.

That's the point. That's why it's better to communicate than just disappear, except in cases where you think communication won't work.

Yeah, exactly

When the truth about friends comes out, there is a lot of sadness and worry because we have been living with each other for a long time, for many years, but still those people do not share the sinsare with us.

That's just it, you'll actually feel more hurt.
