This topic about cars is on it own respected in some African countries like mine Nigeria, I love cars so much but I'm yet to take it really personal to the extend of making it a personal duty to check on diverse cars.
All this started as a kid you know children especially the boys loves games and anything that involves cars. Infact the was a time I saw my self doing that, I will sit down review cars, read about different brands and the cars the produce, read about car specifications and I this helped me to know car models and manufacturing year, like I will just look at your car and tell which model it is, that was how crazy it is but as I grew up, many responsibilities started falling in and this abruptly ended my knowledge about cars.
However my dad being a car lover, he has driven many cars from manual transmission to automatic transmission, this is why all my elder brothers and sisters are able to drive, then I was too young to be thought how to drive according to my dad, anyways I was always wanting to learn but as African parents will have it, you dare not try,
This particular experience is still very fresh in my memory, then I was a kid, my dad took me and our last born to get something one evening, mehn I can still remember how small I was, he left us in the car just to get something so while he left, he didn't return as fast as he was supposed so after battling with my sibling that see I can literally drive this car, he told me you can't do that, I wanted to prove a point, so I held the car key tuggle it to the right then the car was powered up, long story short, without my knowledge the car started rolling by it self, it was one man then that came and wanted to greet my dad when he came he saw two little kids crying, I saw shege that day because I was unable to off the car😂 my dad was informed so he rushed to the scene, I was surprised that he didn't beat me up that evening.
My personal experiences with cars are all because of the love I had for it since childhood, so talking about self driven cars, I would rather say that, this cars are fully functional in the western world, AVs are cars made by programming just like AI, I have seen this vehicles been reviewed on tvs and shows, secondly this vehicles are approved by the Government, this shows the trust the have for them, but remember in Africa this like this barely even understand the commands you insert through speaking.
I don't like self driving cars because I always want to fully be in control of the vehicle and to make the most out of it, but come to think of it, how do you even a self driving car? C’mon I love simulator something more like a race.
Therefore I will always go for a non (AV)_authonomus” car anytime any day.
