The Road to Ido-Ekiti: Travelling Through Cultures, Not Just States.

Most times travelling becomes so far fetched because you're always rotating within same place especially when you are working in that state. You're literally stuck in a loop revolving around going to work and returning home lol... This has been my schedule for the past three months and to make it even more interesting, I live inside the hospital so it's just me walking down to the hospital within three minutes, so I also don't get to even take a cab or anything to get there, lol... What a boring life it is😂

Travelling has always been part of the life's aspect that I'm in love with and will love to explore to the fullest. Beyond being educational, it's a great way to relax and cool off.
Ever wondered why some persons would love to hop on bikes when they're having tough times? It's because the feel of the breeze just sends a calming effect to your whole body, more like a natural stimulants that takes you to cloud 9

My most recent travel was in February 9, 2025, that's almost 4months apart, lol. It was the very day I embarked on the journey of reporting to my place of work, Federal Teaching Hospital Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

This is the Western part of Nigeria whereas I've been in the Eastern part of Nigeria all through my life, so it was really a journey I looked up to not just for the work getting me there, but also, for the experiences in change of culture, dressing, festivals and languages I will get to see because that would really be the first time I'm coming to the Western part of my country, Nigeria.

I had mixed feelings about the journey because I hate it when travelling deprives me of sleeping well and having to wake up so early just to prepare, maybe ~it's why I've been at home for long though, until I have money for flight, lol.~

I could vividly remember how early my mum woke me up that day, rechecking my bags multiple times just to make sure I'm not forgetting anything and then finally when I waved them the final goodbye as the vehicle left the park, then started my exploration, the journey into unfamiliarity, lol.

Right from the departure, the driver already started playing a Yoruba song, I couldn't make meaning out of it because I don't hear the language but some of them had cool beats so I was like, I've got a big deal ahead of me.

The journey itself was calm and almost uneventful since the driver was the leader of Union transport committee, he was known by the Traffic wardens so he wasn't really disturbed that much on the road, it was a long journey of 9hours but was a good one, lol.
We came to a city along our journey and I discovered they had plantain plantations everywhere and I could literally see the plantains we struggle for in south east everywhere and I guess they will be cheaper too.

Only thing I didn't like about the journey was the way our vehicle was overloaded with waybills... the goods were just too much that we were at the verge of suffocating, lol.
Upon arrival, the buzz of new environment struck me and all that.

Another discovery was the food, lol. I've always been a lover of food and when I discovered that the western world had different type of foods even to the foods we share same names with, I knew I was in for a long ride, but then, that's what travelling exposes you to, today, I eat some of their foods... You get to adapt to many life circumstances and you grow.

In essence, my recent trip for house job was a journey of growth. And my next planned travel, whenever it happens, will be a journey of rest and rediscovery because what's life without constant discoveries, lol

Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍

What's life without constant discoveries? I love to explore and see new places but it's only when it calls for it because most times, I dread travelling unless I don't have a choice but to. I'm sure you are going see lots of things and learn, too in our land and I believe you'd be treated nicely by people in Ekiti State.

No doubt, they're treating me nicely

Since you are in the Western part of Nigeria, my advice is to go with the flow 😂😂

I can tell you for a fact that you will enjoy their Amala and Ewedu, with a dash of gbegiri and lots of meat. You will get fat before you leave there 😂😂

😂😂😂😂
This advice sha😂
I'm adapting slowly, very soon I will start eating them all

Alright 😂😂

you should share some of the food there, I am a foodie too so I love seeing food on the table

!BBH !PIMP

Hehehe... I guess that's the next step for real

I will do justice to that very soon, hehe
