Greetings!
One thing we must all know is that education is the best legacy and it will almost be and remain the best legacy. The reason being that, there's something that can be compared to education, even though some believe it to be a scam, but alas! Education is not a scam, but a legacy that should not be joked with.
Having said so much about education and its lasting legacy, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt which is all about, “Grading system.”
Well, the grading system has been a thing for a long time and to me, the system has offered to us who have passed through and to those that are yet passing through it the best. The use of A for excellent or distinction, B for very good, C for credit, D for pass, E for poor and F for failure has really brought about stability and hardwork to the learners folk.
Whenever, we see any of these grades, we learners or parents see these letters, we already know what they point to and not only that, the score range of these letters are already stored in our head and as learners or parents, we don't need anyone expert to tell us or even analyse all the we need to know about the grades as represented by the letters.
As for me, replacing these grade letters with ordinary pass or fail would not be the best thing for the grading system, not the students and the reason for this is that it would make some of the students to be learning under the shadow of themselves, some would even lose their own personal confidence. Although the brilliant among the students would really like this as everyone would know them for who they are as the best students in their classes.
However, this would still affect most of them as some of them would rest on their oars just because they have seen themselves as the best.
Also, this system would not really do justice to the grading system as some of the students who are considered as average students via the letters grading would now be regarded or seen as failures which could affect them psychologically. However, if the letters grading system is not tampered with, those set of average students would still consider themselves as students who can still succeed academically if they should study hard.
So, in conclusion, I see the letter grading system as the best as it helps to accommodate all learners no matter their strengths and weaknesses as it helps to profess hope into the future of many, unlike the pass or fail system which can alter the future of learners if not handled well. So, the best grading that has and that will be forever is that of letter grading and it should not be stopped.
