Hustling is part of life.
Yet, true hustling isn't just about working hard, it's about working smart, staying consistent, and knowing when to pivot.
The Bible says no food for a lazy man, which literally means that if you don't work hard (hustle), you won't survive. Even the beggars on the street are hustling. Everyone wants a good life. No one wants to live poor. We all want to be able to feed ourselves and our families. We want to be able to bring food to the table because the truth is, if you aren't responsible to hustle and provide for the needs of those around you, they take you for granted. They mistreat you. They say all sorts of hateful words at you.
"He who has money owns the world" - Unknown
That's very true. When you can live a comfortable life and can help others, they regard you highly and give you the honour you deserve.
This is why everyone is hustling. You see a woman with a child on her back hawking under the hot sun and even when the rain is dripping.
You see a man sweating under the small wooden tent, beating the fire and doing what he knows how to do best.
You see little kids with trays on their heads selling different kinds of stuff while chasing after the bus stuck in traffic and needing to be paid their money.
All for money...

I was in my room writing and ready for the day when I saw a goat from my window, chewing the bunch of plantains that were on the floor. Immediately, I ran downstairs to chase it off.
That was someone's sweat. It was my neighbour's goods. She had dropped them there to fetch some firewood down the street, ready for the day's business. I decided to stay till she returned to prevent other goats from coming to munch on the goods she was getting ready to work on and then hustle to sell them off.
When she arrived, I explained to her why I was downstairs. She thanked me and I went inside.

From that morning, I saw her peeling and frying the plantains into chips and she finished everything around 7 pm in the night. I felt her struggle even under the sun!
She was there when her first child came back from school. The only times she would stand up was when she had to pee or prepare lunch for her son.

Her efforts to make sure everything was done that day didn't go in vain. She would always sell at a nearby polytechnic and to her neighbours or passersby.
I saw how she was hustling just to make ends meet. Even though she's a graduate, she had no other job and had to settle for this while also supporting her husband pending the time she would be favoured for a good job. They are trying to live comfortably even in their present condition, and that's the only way they can survive. To hustle until it pays off someday.
May God bless our hustles.
