Hello Everyone,
I'm someone who has always been on both sides of the competitive environment, I've come to realize that competition can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can drive us to push beyond our limits and achieve greatness. On the other hand, it can drive you into a toxic force that undermines your well-being and relationships. This was why I earlier tagged competition is a double sided concept.Let's take for instance the company I am currently working with, My boss will always highlight best workers of the week, we are more than three hundred staffs that are hoping to be selected for the Best staff of the week.so I work with a fintech company, Moniepoint as a Business Relation manager. Our Major goal is to Maximise agents and Merchants activities using Moniepoint products like Point of Sales (P.O.S sales and usage), Loans, EPR integration, Monify and many other company products. When I started the work newly, I had little to no drive and motivation, this was because I felt so overwhelmed and lack Drive and Mentoring.
Although I wasn't new to the Job but I just didn't find my way.
To be Candid , This weekly recognition has been a powerful catalyst for my growth in the company.
This healthy dose of competition has pushed me to achieve more than I thought possible. competition can be a powerful catalyst for growth.
The Power of Healthy Competition
When harnessed correctly, competition can be a powerful motivator. It can:
Fuel our passion by igniting a fire within us, driving us to improve and strive for excellence.
It can also Spark innovation, I personally noticed that Rivalry can lead to creative solutions and new ideas, as we strive to outdo one another.
It can also Build resilience, when you are in a healthy competition, Overcoming challenges and setbacks can be more easier.
The Dark Side of Toxic Competition
But Finding Balance in Competition truly work?
Like my Dad will always say in Pidgin:
Life no Hard, Na people dey make things Hard for themselves", this simply means that life is not that hard or serious, take things easy and life your life.
