I wouldn’t say I have much going for me on the social media space but when we look away from social media and come to real life (even though social is also real life ), I do have a lot going on. And with this ‘a lot’ I have going on, I barely have time to be online doing God knows what. This doesn’t mean I don’t use social media, I do. Sometimes a lot, because what I do also sometimes requires me to be online. Aside work, I also have a life to live and other stuff which also keeps me on social media. I do have friends who are far way from me and I make sure to keep in touch with them on various social media channels. But aside that, there’s not much to do on here.
I would say life is funny in a way if you ask me. Why because you’re born into this world only to grow up to be responsible for yourself. I mean, can’t I just be a baby until I’m ready to be an adult? I guess no one gets to enjoy that. Within a twinkle of an eye I moved from being an innocent baby to being a full blown woman trying to make something of this life. Being a woman isn’t child’s play. I know the gender would agree otherwise but let’s have that discussion another time. I say being a woman isn’t child’s play because a lot is expected from us. Gone were the days when women didn’t get to explore much because custom had it that we belonged in the kitchen. Today, women out out there doing great things and still being available in their homes raising great kids and managing their homes well. But behind all this advancements we have made as women, it’s not as easy as it looks. Why because almost every corner is dominated by males. So it’s more like women in male dominated fields everywhere you pass but we still manage to stay afloat.
Away from social media, I do have so many skills which I know would help me anytime , anywhere if the internet didn’t exist. First of all, I’m a seamstress and I learnt this skill about 7 years ago when I decided to take a gap year after high school to learn how to sew from my auntie. I don’t do it much but if need be, I’m always there to deliver. Aside my sewing skills, I’m all about business. I was born in a family of business and I grew up learning all the tricks. As an entrepreneur and a project manager, my skills are always in demand, and there’s no denying that’s.
In addition to all this, I’m also a researcher and a health worker. I must tell you, there’s a lot to do at this side. And as a woman in these fields,it hasn’t been easy at all. But I still go out there each day, learn from others and develop my skills because these skills are always in demand, with or without the internet. This might sound like a lot but trust me it’s not.
With these skills, I do know for sure that I’m at least going to earn my living in a world without the internet/ social media. Regardless, I’m still looking to learn other skills because it’s better to have it than not have it.
all images belong to me.
