There are a whole lot of benefits in my current place of work, though the salary might not be a huge amount of money like that but there are some things that makes the place a bit enjoyable for me. When I compare my workplace to other places, I would say I'm favored to be fully employed by the government of my state.
As a government worker, the rate at which one is being tailored around by a boss is minimal, anyone that has worked in a private establishment would testify that the difference is clear. A teacher in private school hardly has breathing space at work, it's work from morning till closing hours throughout the week, I've experienced it before so I know how it goes.
Even sometimes the proprietor of the school might schedule staffs meeting on saturday so that it won't affect the teaching period during week days. It's so funny how those people think, they believe they own your life all because they employed you.
But as a government teacher in which I work in a local community, there is nothing like overload of work, any work not done till Friday by 1 pm of the said week will be suspended till monday or any other working days if there are no public holidays, once it's closing hours, nothing can hold you down at work not even your boss unless you and your colleagues decide to wait for a particular meeting or engagement.
Also, there is nothing like mandatory dress code for staff, you wear whatever you can afford in as much you dress smartly and neatly you are good to go. There is no filling of movement books whenever you intend to move out of the school compound or travel, so far you tell one or two colleagues that you are going somewhere such a person will cover up for you.......lolzzzz I love this traveling privilege like crazy 🤣
Another benefit I love about my current place of work is that, its the Union in charge of my profession that fights for our incentives and entitlements. I don't need to struggle at all, the Union helps us all and once the Union and the government reaches an agreement, I received whatever belongs to me effortlessly. If there are salaries increase, mine will also be increased, if it's bonuses I will also be included.
However, the most enjoyable part of my job is the privilege of enjoying lengthen holidays. Currently, we are almost at the end of third term which is the term that concludes an academic session, this means once the school closes at the end of this month, a new academic calendar starts by September 2024. I don't need to calculate the total weeks I will have to do other things and mind you I will be paid during the holidays as well.
For now, I don't think there is anything that can be taken away from my workplace that might make me quit the job because the Union and labour congress are doing everything possible to make life easier for workers and not to victimized them to quit their job. So everything keeps improving everyday!
